Lipsticks are my weakness. A pretty neutral lipstick is something I always have in handy. With Essence launching some new lipsticks in the “Sheer and Shine” range, I have added a few new ones to my collection. So today, I am going to review a fairly new lip product by Essence called Essence Sheer and Shine Lipstick in “Cute Nude.”

Sheer love! This new smooth and lightweight lipstick provides a moisturizing wash of color and shine. Buildable color with every swipe.

My Experience with Essence Cute Nude Sheer and Shine Lipstick:
Packaging: Essence have really upped their packaging game lately. The sheer and shine lipsticks come in silver shiny bodies with the cover in the shade of the lipstick which is semi transparent. The packaging is simple, cute, and I like that the tube of the lipstick represents the lipstick shade. The packaging is plastic, but a considerable upgrade from the old Essence lipstick tubes. The Essence logo is carved on the lipstick bullet which looks really high end.
Color: These new Sheer and Shine lipsticks by Essence are described to have a soft and sheer colour payoff with a pleasantly light feeling on the lips. This lipstick will provide your lips with a subtle colour and a fantastic shine. The shade “Cute Nude” is a nice sheer nude shade which will suit fair to medium complexions.
Pigmentation: Since this lipstick has been termed “sheer,” the pigmentation is not the greatest. It just has a sheer flush of colour with considerable shine. I would say the pigmentation is like a lip balm.
Texture: These lipsticks are really glossy and shiny. The formulation is quite lightweight and feels like nothing on the lips. They do not tug or pull during application and are actually quite hydrating. Since I love matte lipsticks normally, I don’t like this finish in a lipstick, but in a n*de sheer lipstick like this, it’s quite nice actually.
Longevity: I cannot expect much longevity out of a sheer lipstick with shine! I would say this baby stays on the lips for about 2-3 hours after which it loses shine and starts to fade away. Reapplication is required throughout the day just like lip balms.

- Not sticky whatsoever.

- Easily available online and in drugstores.
Cons of Essence Cute Nude Sheer and Shine Lipstick:
- Very very sheer color payoff.
- This shade is not suitable for all skin tones.
- Not long-lasting at all.
- Not available in India.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Essence Cute Nude Sheer and Shine Lipstick?
I think Essence has done a fair job on these new lipsticks, the formula is good and I really like the shade selection, but if you are expecting a creamy lipstick with great longevity, then this one is not for you. To explain it in short, I would say it’s just a glorified version of a lip balm with a little less hydration as compared to a lip balm. If this description intrigues you, then there’s no harm trying out some shades at such an affordable price. I am sure not going to repurchase this.
