My Experience with Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss- Nude Candy:
I admit of late I have been loving all sorts of lip products especially lip glosses, which previously I was not much, find of. And I have read excellent reviews on these lip glosses from essence so some time back I had picked up two of these the shade true love I reviewed earlier and today I am going to talk about nude candy, whereas I really like the other one this one is totally different and completely failed to impress me. I must say this is the first and so far the only essence product I am so disappointed with, as all their other products definitely deliver results.
The packaging is very simple and sturdy; it comes in a transparent glass tube with a silver cap with the name labeled on it. The cap has a long and flat sponge tip applicator attached which applies the gloss precisely. The color nude candy just like the name is a very pale nude pink lip gloss. The color is just too pale and may look decent to extremely fair skin tones, but on my medium skin tone it makes me look sick and washed, definitely not a color for Indian skin tones.
But in spite of being such a lighter shade it is extremely pigmented in a single swipe, I wish their other lip glosses had such pigmentation. It will cover lip pigmentation as well. It has micro silver shimmer speckles which are visible in the tube in sunlight, but not much on lips when applied, but stays behind after removing lip gloss from lips. But the color can definitely be used in different ways, it works very well with darker lipsticks and that was the reason I had bought it, as I was looking for a nude lip gloss. I really like how it alters the color of a darker lip product. It has a mild fruity fragrance nothing overpowering.
The texture is smooth, creamy and moisturizing and quite thin. I personally love thick lip glosses, but this one is quite thin and also very difficult to work with. There is absolutely no stickiness or anything, but the formula is also not extremely glossy like a true lip gloss should be. And moreover it settles into lip lines, accentuating them even when used on well prepped lips. It goes very patchy when layered on top of a lipstick. Compared to the other one this one also starts feathering after 2 hours and starts fading. All in all I am very disappointed with it as it takes a lot of efforts and applications to make this lip gloss presentable as it settles a lot into lines.
P.S I tried my best to get a good lip swatch, but it still looks horrible.
Pros of Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss- Nude Candy:
• Extremely pigmented
• Very smooth and creamy texture
• Shimmer present is not at all large or gritty
• Completely non- sticky
• Sleek and sturdy packaging
Con of Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss- Nude Candy:
• Settles a lot fine lines even on well prepped lips
• Looks very patchy on its own as well as when layered
• The color will not suit majority of skin tones
• Starts feathering barely after 2 hours of wear
• Lacks a glossy shine as compared to other lip glosses
• Leaves behind shimmer after fading
Do I recommend Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss- Nude Candy?
The formula of this one is very difficult to work with and the shade itself is too light for most skin tones, it is best to stay away from this one. There are much better lip glosses out there for similar price.
