Essence XXXL Shine Super Girl Lip Gloss – Layer It On For Shimmer and Shine!

Hello Beautiful Ladies,

I love lip products and this is the reason that most of my articles are based on either lipsticks or lip glosses. The lip product that I will be reviewing today is a lip gloss and it is from the brand Essence. The gloss is from Essence’s XXXL gloss range and the color I have today is called “Super Girl.” I have 4 of these glosses. Initially, I bought two and I loved the formula so much, that I bought two more.

Price:

INR 229 for 5 ml (the other one was for 225, but the label on this says Rs. 229).

Packaging:

The gloss comes in a transparent cylindrical packaging with a silver colored lid. The transparent bottle makes it easier to identify the color as well as to have a check on the amount of product left. The packaging is sturdy and safe to travel with. The applicator is user friendly; it is a decent sized-sponge applicator which makes the application easy.

My Take on Essence XXXL Shine Super Girl Lip Gloss:

Color: Super Girl is almost a transparent lip gloss with loads of shimmer particles in it. The particles are minute and thus helps the color to shine without making it uncomfortable for the gloss wearer.  The gloss is actually a very light toned pink, but it does not show up on the lips.  On the lips, one can only see the shining particles.  This gloss can brighten up any lip color.  It can be layered over your favorite lipstick to give it an extra shine. Super Girl looks very good on its own, but it looks beautiful when layered over another color and this makes it a perfect party wear gloss.

Pigmentation: As already mentioned, the color is not pigmented at all, it is almost a transparent color which is good for layering.

Texture: The gloss is easy to apply, a little thick in consistency as compared to the other ones that I have.  Its consistency does not allow it to flow beyond the lip line, which makes it look perfect till the time it is on the lips. Though it has loads of shimmer particles, these particles cannot actually be felt, neither by the lips nor by fingers.  The gloss is very moisturizing, but the moisture it provides is not as good as I experienced with the shade “Big Night Out.” Another plus point of the gloss is that it is not sticky, which I personally like.

Staying Power:  For a lip gloss, the staying power is average; it stays for 2 hours without eating anything, and goes off completely. The shimmers particles might stay for a little longer, depending upon the layers of gloss applied initially.

Pros of Essence XXXL Shine Super Girl Lip Gloss:

• Affordable.
• Good for layering over any lip color.
• Moisturizing.
• Shimmers are minute, they cannot be felt.
• Non sticky.
• User friendly packaging and applicator.

Cons of Essence XXXL Shine Super Girl Lip Gloss:

• The consistency is good, but not as good as the other variants that I have tried.
• Does have a weird kind of fragrance, which might bother some people.

Would I Repurchase Essence XXXL Shine Super Girl Lip Gloss?

No! I love these, and the proof is that I already have 4 from Essence XXXL range, but I don’t think I need more of these in my life.

Would I Recommend Essence XXXL Shine Super Girl Lip Gloss?

If you are looking for something to layer over a matte lipstick to make the color look party appropriate, then this might be the color for you.
