My Experience with Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Matte Sculpting Lipstick Raw Edge:
So, I bought this lipstick on a whim because I had a bad week and wanted to treat myself 😛 I found myself hovering around Estee Lauder in Sephora and the SA helped me pick this shade. This is literally the first time ever that a sales assistant has picked a color that I wanted and wasn’t pushy.
The case of this lipstick is luxurious, of course. It’s a royal blue case with gold rim around the top and bottom. The tube inside is also gold with the brand name has been printed on it. The bottom of the lipstick has a sticker with the shade colour, name and number mentioned.
“Raw Edge” is a deep, pink-toned brown which is such an AMAZING n*de lip colour for brown-skinned girls. It flatters my NC42 shade and would probably look like more of an MLBB lipstick on darker skin tones. On lighter skin tones, it would be a very flattering brown!
The pigmentation is fantastic, it goes really opaque in one swipe and while you don’t need to, you could still build up the lipstick without it getting cakey or heavy at all! It covers any and all lip pigmentation that I have in a single swipe and I don’t feel the need to even use a lip liner under this.
The formula is a proper matte shade and while we expect those to be drying, this one really isn’t. A lip balm would be needed for really dry lips, but I get by without a lip balm just fine. The texture is smooth, it doesn’t tug on the lips, doesn’t bleed, doesn’t settle into fine lines, nothing. It has a caramel-kind of a scent which fades away after a few minutes after application. I can’t complain about this honestly.
The lipstick stays on me for a good 5 hours even through a light meal. Any oily food would cause the lipstick to come off quite a bit. It does transfer a little bit but the colour doesn’t look any less opaque on the lips! Touching up isn’t a pain either because the formula is really comfortable – go ahead and touch up as many times as you want.
It fades from the center first and then towards the outer part of the lips which is the only thing that bothers me, but I usually touch up before it gets to that stage. Problem solved!
Pros of Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Matte Sculpting Lipstick Raw Edge:
- Amazing MLBB shade.
- The most comfortable, non-drying matte lipstick I have ever owned.
- Good staying power.
Cons of Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Matte Sculpting Lipstick Raw Edge:
- Burns a hole in your pocket.
I took off only point, and ONLY because of how expensive this is. Normally, I wouldn’t splurge so much on a lipstick, but it was worth the spend. Instead of repurchasing, I might try to find a dupe for this next time. But if you can afford this Estee Lauder lipstick, I would highly recommend it.
