I always like trying out different products, and body lotions are something that last for a long time so I hardly stick to one and try out different ones available in the market. I liked all the products I tried so far from Fab India they have worked really well for me, so on my last visit to their store I thought of trying out a body lotion from their Silk protein range which did sound very interesting, let’s see how well it fared for me.
Fabindia Silk Protein Moisturising Lotion is enriched with sericin – a silk protein, this lotion hydrates the skin. Known for its tissue repair properties, silk protein makes dry skin soft and supple.
Rs. 245 for 200ml
My Experience with Fabindia Silk Protein Moisturising Lotion:
The packaging of the product is simple and sturdy. It comes in a medium sized transparent plastic bottle with a pump dispenser and a small cap to secure it and prevent any leakage. The dispenser has a small nozzle which dispenses required amount every time. The bottle is slightly bulky but can be used for travelling if one wants.
The lotion inside is white colored and has a thin and light consistency, it has a very different fragrance which is difficult to describe but it slightly on the strong side initially and lingers for a good 30 minutes. I am not a fan of it but it fades eventually. Although nothing is specially mentioned whether it can be used on face as well as body, I solely use it as a body lotion. The lotion spreads easily on skin and gets absorbed quickly without feeling heavy. It is completelynon-sticky and a little goes a long way. It moisturizes my normal skin well and skin feelsvery smooth and soft after application which is something I really like about this lotion, it does not leave behind any greasy feeling.
It is hydrating enough for normal skin, but I really doubt if it would work well for winters and for dry skin since it is not that moisturizing. This would be a good lotion for summers and year round if you do have not dry skin, but will not work for winters. Also it does not contain any SPF which makes it unsuitable for outdoors during daytime. The moment I apply it instantly takes care of the slight dryness and keeps my skin moisturized for 4 to 5 hours, after which reapplication is necessary.
I have been using it since sometime now and the effects last just while you apply it and are temporary like most body lotions, there are no improvements in the skin’s texture or feel with prolong use which I had expected from reading the description and name of the product.
Pros of Fabindia Silk Protein Moisturizing Lotion:
Cons of Fabindia Silk Protein Moisturizing Lotion:
• Not moisturizing enough for dry skin and winters
• No SPF
• Smell is a bit overpowering in beginning and lingers for a while
• Contains parabens
