I like the brand “Hard Candy” because it is so easy on my pocket, it has some really amazing products and my local Walmart store stocks up this brand. I bought this product as part of my recent drugstore haul and to avail for free shipping, I had to add in a few less expensive stuff, so I added a few products by Essence and Rimmel (some of which turned out good despite being an impulsive buy). Keep reading to know why I am not so happy with this product.

My Take on Hard Candy Bold and Gorgeous Dare To Flick Felt Tip Liner:
This is the fifth felt tip eye liner I have tried until now – the first one was Maybelline Colossal felt tip eye liner, second by Jordana, third by Eyeko and fourth by Essence– I had good experiences with two of them, so now I am more confident in trying out felt tip liners by other brands as well.
Packaging: It’s like a thin marker pen, the kind that we use on white boards with a felt tip, which is very smooth and does not have a rough sponge-like texture. It glides with equal ease on both tough skin of the wrist and delicate skin of the eyelids, but it is not as smooth as the Eyeko liner that I had reviewed recently. The tip of the liner is rather unique as well – the tip is shaped like a tear drop and is more bulbous compared to usual felt tip marker tips.
Color: One swatch gives a translucent black color which can be intensified further with a few more swatches and set in an opaque finish, but is still not as pigmented as I like my eyeliners to be.
Pigmentation: Like I had mentioned before, it gives an opaque finish but only after few strokes; however, the best feature is that it dries very easily and hence it is easy to build up the color without it appearing patchy or streaky. The tip has to be placed at an angle for ease of application. Unlike Eyeko eyeliner, it cannot be used perpendicular to the skin or on inner corner of the eyes for a more dramatic look. The color payoff is not as intense as I desired and also it spreads a little till it dries.
Shimmer and Shine: No shimmer and shine; it gives a matte finish.
Wear Time: This product is moderately waterproof, sweat proof and tear proof and it gives a decent wear time, provided we keep our eyes safe from water and tears. This felt tip liner gives a precise, thick line and does make winged liner looks easier to draw.
This product is not expensive and can be bought if one likes to dabble with new makeup, but it would definitely not replace a good felt tip liner pen.
Pros of Hard Candy Bold and Gorgeous Dare To Flick Felt Tip Liner:
- Good packaging, easy to store and apply.
- Easy to draw winged liner looks.
- Can be used to make a thick line on the eyelids.
- Gives a decent color payoff in a couple of strokes.
- No fragrance.
- Dries very quickly.
- Color can be built up.
- Sponge tip is smooth and does not hurt the eyelids.
Cons of Hard Candy Bold and Gorgeous Dare To Flick Felt Tip Liner:
- Cannot be used perpendicular to the skin and has to be used at an angle
- Does not give an opaque finish in one go, even after a few strokes, it is not as intense as desired.
- Not ideal for applying liner in the inner corner of the eyes for a more dramatic effect.
- Cannot draw thin lines.
Would I Repurchase Hard Candy Bold and Gorgeous Dare To Flick Felt Tip Liner?
No, because in the same price range or lower one can buy better felt tip liner pens which can be used to draw multiple looks and also give a better color payoff.
