How to Ombré Your Lipstick

Hi ladies,

Gone are the days of applying a single boring lipstick. It is all about experimenting now and doing an ombre lip is something that you need to try, if you haven’t already. If you want to know how to do it, then just keep on reading.

How to Ombré Your Lipstick

1. Scrub your Lips

This will ensure proper blood flow to your lip area and scrubbing will also help to get rid of dead skin cells. You can use a toothbrush to do it.

2. Moisturize Your Lips

We all know how important it is to moisturize after scrubbing to achieve a smoother canvas for lipstick application. You can use any chap stick, lip balm or plain ol’ Vaseline to do it.

3. Choose 2 Shades

Now, you need to use 2 lipsticks, darker lipstick as a base colour as well a lighter shade to go on top of it. The colours totally depend on your choice. You can go for different shades from same colour family or you can also choose 2 contrasting colours if you are not afraid to experiment.

4. Use a Lip Liner

Lip liner matching the darker coloured lipstick will help to line and define your lips properly.

Steps:
1. Use a concealer to apply as base on your lips. This will make sure that your lip shades come out vibrant and in the exact shade in the box.
2. Now, line your lips using the lip liner and keep a sharp line. Avoid smudging for a neat look. If you do smudge your liner, try and gently wipe with a Q-tip.
3. Now, you need to apply the base colour or the darker shade on your lips. Fill in your whole lip. Do not apply too many coats as you will be adding another lipstick over it.
4. Now is the time to apply lighter shade. You can apply it in whichever way you want! Apply it only around the centre of your lips and then smudge it or blend it properly with a lip brush. Instead of applying it in the centre, you can also use lighter shade only around the side edges of your lips and then smudge and blend.
5. The key to a good ombre lips is the perfect shade selection and also blending properly. If the shades are not blended properly then it will not give you that perfect ombre look.
6. You can definitely experiment with different shades and practice blending for a flawless look.
