Skin Type: Oily, sensitive facial skin; dry body
Having heard raving reviews of Kama Ayurveda products, I went ahead and purchased a few products from this brand. Today, I am reviewing Kama Ayurveda Jwalini Retexturising Skin Treatment in this post. Read on for further details 🙂
INR 350 for 100 ml.
This product is prescribed in Ayurveda as a treatment for smooth, soft and clear skin. It also helps clear up skin irritation and itching. It is an excellent after-sun remedy. It is appropriate for the entire body, including face.
Retexturising Skin Treatment is formulated from natural herbs processed in pure coconut milk and sesame oil. The herbal ingredients, which include costus and cardamom, when used in tandem, are known for their Varneekarana properties – the ability to enhance skin texture. Costus is especially known for its remedial treatment of mild skin irritations. Appropriate for entire body or affected skin area.
My Experience with Kama Ayurveda Jwalini Retexturising Skin Treatment Oil:
Packaging: This retexturising oil comes in a fuss-free sturdy plastic bottle with a golden cap. The bottle has two nozzle openings which dispense a small amount of the product each time. This eliminates wastage of the oil. Also, since the bottle is plastic, it is quite travel-friendly. Overall, a decent utilitarian packaging with no fancy touches. Jwalini oil is a pale yellow or light mustard colored oil with a consistency that’s typical for an oil. It has a very strong overpowering herbal smell which lingers even after you apply it. However, the smell is also indicative of the fact that it is a natural product and no fillers/synthetic fragrances have been added. So, I have learnt to deal with it.
The “retexturising” claim got me, and I wanted to improve the texture of both my facial and body skin. While my face is oily and sensitive, my body is dry and prone to patches and bumps. So this oil seemed like a good option for my skin.
The oil is non-greasy. On my face, it has never caused any breakout or irritation. For an oil, this is an achievement. It doesn’t clog pores and cause pimples. In fact, you can see the difference in your skin after a couple of uses. My skin looked very glowing. Even in the morning, instead of looking oily, my face was glowing. I generally apply it for an hour and wash it off, either before bath or before bedtime. I don’t need to use any moisturizer and my skin looks very soft and toned. I prefer massaging it in circular motion and I can see the firmness and evenness in my skin as a result.
On my body, it feels great. The oil manages to remove all dry patches, especially on the elbows and knees. Over time, I have seen my hands and feet becoming two-three shades darker than my face. Although it didn’t remove my tan, my skin looks well-polished and nourished. There is no dryness, and skin looks well toned and looks well cared for. Girls with dry skin will adore this oil.
