Lakme Absolute Red Hot Matte Lip Color Review

I am very sure that you all missed me a lot, didn’t you? 😛 Well, I was so busy with all the ups and downs happening in my life.  I am going through a really bad phase health-wise and there is so much studying to do! I am all confused and jumbled up with all these problems in my life. But I do regularly check IMBB and then, I finally made up my mind to start reviewing stuff again. So, here’s my review on Lakme Absolute “Red Hot” Matte lipstick.

My Take on Lakme Absolute Red Hot Matte Lip Color:

Packaging:  We all know how Lakme Absolute lipsticks look, but I would still mention all the details.  This lipstick comes wrapped in a plastic on which details like date of packing and expiry are mentioned. The lipstick comes in a silver grey colored, sleek tube. The tube feels really light in weight and travel friendly. The lipstick is housed in a chrome case and gets twisted up easily. You can find the shade name and number at the bottom of the tube. The only downside to the packaging is that the grey color chips off easily and the tube starts looking shabby.

Shade:  Red Hot is a deep red color with hints of maroon and brick.  It has minute golden shimmer that is almost imperceptible to eyes. The red is perfect for every skin tone; it’s neither a very cool toned red nor a very warm orangey shade. I would call this red very Indian, as it’s apt to wear to Indian weddings and occasions. This red looks best when teamed with warm metallic eye makeup like gold, copper and bronze.

Texture/Finish/Pigmentation:  I really love the texture of the lipstick, it’s kind of very similar to the Sculpt Hi Definition lipsticks, but a tad bit creamier than those. The brand new bullet will initially feel hard and difficult to apply on lips, but when you swipe it once, it will glide like butter on the lips.

The formula is very rich and creamy thick. Initially, the lipstick applies very creamy and then slowly settles down to give a pure matte finish. The only issue with this super matte lip color is that it settles down very easily into the fine lines of lips and gives a cracked appearance to the lip color. It will exaggerate lip issues. There’s only a little bit of color transfer, but it doesn’t affect the color on the lips.

The pigmentation is rich and intense in a single swipe. You would hardly need to swipe it more than once. The lipstick doesn’t feels cakey upon layering; on the contrary, it feels feathery light on the lips.  There is no bleeding out of lip lines.

Staying Power:  The lipstick lasts for quite a long time on the lips since as I mentioned earlier, it doesn’t transfer much. Once applied, it sets down to a matte finish and would stay on the lips for 5-6 hours. But it cannot survive full/oily meals and the color would start to fade from the inner corners of the lips.

Pros of Lakme Absolute Red Hot Matte Lip Color:

• Applies creamy and slowly settles down to give a pure matte finish and long-lasting color.
• Doesn’t become cakey upon layering.
• Transfers partially not completely.
• Doesn’t bleed out of lip lines.
• Staying power is amazing for 5-6 hours, without fading.

Cons of Lakme Absolute Red Hot Matte Lip Color:

• Not suitable for those who have chronically dry lips., this lip color will aggravate lip issues.
• Easily seeps down into fine lines of lips and appears as if the color has cracked from some areas.
• Can be a little drying for dry lips.
• With time, the tube starts to chip off.
• Even though it’s a long-lasting lipstick, it does not survives full meals.

Would I Recommend Lakme Absolute Red Hot Matte Lip Color?
Yes, for the beautiful and rich color and for the great color payoff and creamy texture. But if you have dry and unhealthy lips, I would suggest you to stay away from this range. I am in love with this shade and will definitely keep on repurchasing this particular lipstick.

Final Verdict:
The lipstick shade is great and universally flattering; the texture is perfect too. The pigmentation and staying power are great as well, but when it comes to the formula of the lipstick, it fails. The formula could have been better.
