Lakme Absolute Matte Lip Color 47 Classic Rose
Amongst all the furore, I would like to keep my head on my shoulders while I write this review and let you guys know whether you should go and spend your 375 rupees on this lipstick. I know we all are very excited to lay our hands on something from the Absolute Range of Lakme or perhaps at least go and see the entire collection; even I was too excited, but having been there and done that, I am at peace and in the right mood to review this lipstick from the Absolute range.

Rs. 375 for 3. 6 ml.
Available at all leading Lakme outlets. For our Chennai readers, I got it from Shopper’s Stop.
Product Description:
Lakme Absolute Matte is enriched with vitamin E and wheat germ oil to keep lips soft, silky and smooth lips. Its non-drying creamy formula keeps the lips hydrated with a matte finish.
Now before I start, it is very important for us to know that we are perceiving this new range from two points of view:
- First, from a view that compares Absolute with Lakme’s other ranges.
- Second, as a makeup product, as a solitary lipstick out of all the buzz around and without Lakme’s earlier impressions that we have in mind.
I am going to review it as a solitary lipstick and not going to think “can’t believe this is Lakme and wow what a face lift and so on!”
First Impression:
:yawn: just like Lakme Nine to Five lipsticks, which I have got tons of, oh and nice gunmetal packaging makes it look classier. The formula, let’s see if it got any better. The lipstick casing is a nice grey this time as opposed to the cream and gold from Nine to Five.Apart from that, I could see that this lipstick is more pigmented and glided better than my Nine to Five ones.
Okay, so Absolute is more pigmented, deeper, and glides better.
The lipstick goes on absolutely matte and stays put and feels lighter in the beginning, but with time, it gets drier and drier on the lips. Personally, I never have dry lips, but this lipstick made my lips feel dry and made me feel as if I am wearing something on my lips.
The color here is a classic deep orange based red and it really brightens the face up for me . I like oranges and orange-based reds rather than the blue-based one for warming up my face. It is very pigmented and glides on well and sets too, but since it is matte, it does settle in fine lines for me, making my lips drier with time.
It lasted me a whopping 6 hours with meals, fruits, several pecks to my baby, and it definitely is transfer resistant, but it is not at all moisturising, kind of matte. :nababana:
It fades to a mild stain (these do stain) and fades patchy since it is dry in texture.
It fades from here and there and not evenly. I suggest you to check your lips after a meal and re-apply.
The logo is new for Absolute which is fine with me, no great shakes, packing is nice too. I like the flat top of lipsticks for ease of application.
Other Recommendations:
There were only five shades I liked. For peach lovers, I recommend Peach Carnation. Mauve lovers can get Grape Blossom.
Brilliant Kiss is a darker pink and the red one is the one I got which is Classic Rose. There were some browns as well, but I have enough browns from Nine to Five range. :yawn:
Last Word:
As a lipstick, it is not moisturisingly matte, it is in fact very drying for a person like me who never has dry lips. The colors are good but nothing that I have never seen. The packing is nice, the logo average.
These are just like 9 to 5, even a little more drying, deeper pigmented and glides better, these set and don’t transfer. These stay for a very long time, about six hours definitely, but then are patchy too.
Do I Recommend Lakme Absolute Matte Lip Color:
These are just like 9 to 5, trust me, same price, more pigmented and more drying. If you really fall for some color out of the Absolute range and the 9 to 5 range, you can pick any, no difference. Unfortunately, for me (usually never have dry lips), it is uncomfortably drying.
Please do not get these if you have dry lips. I would not say you have to get one, but do check these at the counter. I understand there was a hype created, but don’t be smitten by the hype to spend 375 rupees, phut! Here goes the bubble!
The color is a pretty orange red, but you can get better moisturising red lipsticks too.

I love the shade . I am loving my Chamor Orange Falmbe these days. You r right that these orange shades really brighten up the face ……. Wish it was not so drying. But I too have dry lips , so I’ll stay away from this

Actually I personally feel most of the products in this line are a relaunch from the 9 to 5 collection with some more additions thrown in… :-/
