My Experience with L’Oreal Colour Riche La Palette – Nude 01:
Packaging: The L’Oreal Colour Riche La Palette Nude 01 comes in a black rectangular plastic case. There is a transparent window on the lid which lets you see the colors in the palette without having to open the lid. The case itself feels quite sturdy and is travel friendly. There is a slim mirror inside the lid which is quite helpful. The palette contains 10 shades in rectangular pans. The pans are quite generously sized. You get 17.5g of eyeshadow in this palette.
There is a dual-ended brush with a sponge tip applicator on one side and a small brush on the other side. While the brush is a bit small for all-over-lid application, it is do-able. The brush is actually pretty soft and is of the perfect size to apply eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eyes.
On the back of the palette, there are 4 eye looks – Nude Ombre, Feline Fancy, Sultry Angel and Lady Butterfly. There is a picture of each look with a mini-tutorial on how to achieve the same. This is very helpful for beginners.
Color and Finish: The L’Oreal La Palette Nude 01 contains brown-based neutral shades which are light to medium deep. This is a warm toned palette with beiges, gold, taupes and warm browns. The variety of light, mid-toned, and deeper shades can create a number of different looks ranging from a natural soft day time look to a smoky dark night time look.
There are 3 matte shades and 7 shimmery shades in this palette. The matte shades are really versatile and make awesome crease/transition shades.
Shade 1 is a shimmery cream.
Shade 2 is a shimmery peach.
Shade 3 is a matte peachy brown.
Shade 4 is a satin bronzed gold.
Shade 5 is a matte medium brown.
Shade 6 is a matte dark brown.
Shade 7 is a shimmery bronze.
Shade 8 is a shimmery chocolate brown.
Shade 9 is a shimmery taupe silver.
Shade 10 is a shimmery light pink.
Texture: After trying out the various Maybelline 12-pan palettes, which were average at the best, I was expecting a similar formula with this palette too. But I have to say, I am very happily surprised by the formula of the L’Oreal La Palette Nude 01. The eyeshadows feel very soft, smooth and silky. They are very easy to blend with absolutely no patchiness.
Usually, it is very difficult to find good matte drugstore eyeshadows. You can find some good shimmery shadows at the drugstore which are soft and creamy, but the mattes are mostly stiff and chalky, but not so with this palette. The mattes are awesome and feel like the Lorac Pro mattes. They are so soft that you have to be very gentle with your brush while picking up the shadow on your brush, else you will end up with a powdery mess on your palette. Make sure that you tap the excess off your brush before applying on to your lids to avoid fall out.
Finish: The mattes have a true matte finish, without any sheen. The shimmery shades have a very muted sheen. They do not look shimmery on the lids at all and have more of a satin finish. This is quite different from other drugstore shimmer shadows I have tried. In this case, there is no obvious shimmer or glitter. This is perfect for an everyday use palette, even for a conservative office environment.
Pigmentation: All shades have very good color payoff. As mentioned above, the shimmery shades are quite muted. So the lighter shimmery might appear less pigmented due to the lack of the glittery shine, but that is not the case. It is just the muted nature of these shadows. If you feel that the lighter shimmery shades are not showing up as well on your lid as you would like them too, you can use them wet.
Longevity: Without a primer, I find that the lighter shimmery colors, which I use on the lid, fade a little after 6 hours or so, but the rest of the shadows stay put. I do not have this problem with a primer. These shadows last for the entire day on my oily lids without any fading or creasing.

- The lighter shimmery shades fade if worn without a primer.
Would I Recommend L’Oreal Colour Riche La Palette – Nude 01?
Though the price may seem high for a drugstore eye shadow palette, the quantity and the quality of the shadows justify the price. The L’Oreal La Palette Nude 1 is one of the best drugstore palettes I have come across. Definitely try it out if you get a chance.
