My Experience with Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor Back In Vogue:

Look-wise the packaging is a hybrid between the regular lipsticks by Mac and liquid lip colors. The applicator is handy and user friendly. The ingredients and other details are mentioned on the outer paper carton. The shade name is mentioned on the tube as well as on the carton. The tube is transparent so you can easily find the shade in your stash, if you have more than one from the same range.

packaging

The texture of the lip color is super creamy and smooth. It glides on the lips like butter and settles to an ultra matte finish. The shades have varied consistency, so each one has a different texture. This particular shade has pretty good texture but the pigmentation is not as good. It is slightly difficult to evenly cover the lips with the color. A lip liner beneath would come in handy for a smoother application. Due to the super matte texture, exfoliation and moisturisation is recommended as it tends to show the dry patches.

The shade is coral beige and washes me out without proper base and lip lining. I would not recommend this shade for people above NC 35 as it look a bit weird in my opinion. If you like the washed out look on a tanned skin, you might pick this up. I have to work hard to make this shade work for me, mostly with a darker lip liner as base and a gloss to cut off the lightness of the shade.

applicator

The staying power is incredible. It does not move of smudge at all as long as it is not messed with. I have to use an oil based makeup remover to completely remove it from the lips. It does not stain the lips, nor does it go patchy. This has survived meals and stayed strong for more than 8 hours on my lips. After 2 hours the lips tend to feel a bit stretchy and hence I apply a bit of matte balm on top to bring the comfortable feel to the lips.
