What’s up? Hope everything is going around really well.
After reading so many reviews, I decided I’d try the MUA Lip Lacquers, however, the shades I really wanted were out of stock! I had my brother get them for me, so I ended up with the shade “Dare”, which turned out to be one of the most stunning colors I own! 😀 MUA undoubtedly is my favorite drugstore brand, and every product I get from it makes it to the top of my beauty hit-list!
Coming down to the review of this pretty little thing!
Price: Super reasonable at 3 pounds, 300 rupees approximately
Packaging: All the lip lacquers come in a outer black paper packaging with gold writing over it. The tube is a transparent bottle with the color showing through and the lid in black color, again with gold writing. The packaging according to me is classy, and makes the product look really expensive (which it definitely isn’t). Also, the packaging is pretty robust according to me.
Color: I love the color of this lippie. It flatters my skin tone like nobody’s business, it’s just BEAUTIFUL!! It is a gorgeous berry color and would suit almost every skin color. I like how it can be teamed up with any eye look and it never looks over the top.
Pigmentation: Do I have to go on raving about the pigmentation all over again? 😛 Lol. I love the color pay-off of almost every MUA product available. I don’t know how they end up making products so seamlessly and at such affordable prices. It is insanely pigmented and once you wear it on your lips it isn’t going anywhere! They are super pigmented and one swipe is usually all you need. The color is smudge proof too, no matter what you do, it won’t transfer!
Texture: The texture of the lip lacquer is a mix of both dry and creamy, it goes creamy on the lip when you apply it, but once it dries out, it tends to make the lips feel really dry. Well, it turns matte on the lip, and drying out is one of the traits of matte lippies. Also, with lip lacquers you need to be very careful on application, because once they dry, they are difficult to fix, unless you want to go ahead and use your makeup remover.
Staying power: As I’ve mentioned earlier, it doesn’t wash off no matter what you eat or drink. It’s just going to be there as long as you come home and thoroughly wash it off.
A few ways to keep drying at bay with a Lip Lacquer:
- Use a lip balm over your lip lacquer or prior to application.
- Make sure to thoroughly exfoliate.
- Always wait for a few minutes before you go ahead with a second layer. Applying a second layer while the first one hasn’t dried out, may tend to make the lips look patchy, and not attractive.
- For the lippie not to budge, stay away from foods with excessive oils.
- Do not use if you have chapped lips.
Pros of Makeup Academy Dare Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer:
- Beautiful Berry Shade
- Classy Packaging
- Suits all skin tones
- Crazy pigmentation
Cons of the Makeup Academy Dare Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer:
- Tends to have a drying effect.
- Is difficult to come off, you need to work hard with it.
Do I recommend Makeup Academy Dare Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer?
Yes, it is a GORGEOUS shade, you’ll all love me for suggesting it to you!! And at a price so cheap, there’s nothing to lose
