My Experience with Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Metallics Lipstick 974 Silk Stone:

The packaging of the lipstick is common and like all other lipsticks of color sensational range. There is only a change in the color of the cap. The lipstick tube is rectangular and comes wrapped in a cellophane paper, which has necessary details about the product. The tube has a mirror finish and it closes with a long translucent black colored plastic cap.

There is a color-coded sticker at the base of the lipstick tube, which bears the shade name and number. The brand’s tagline is printed on the lipstick tube in small black fonts. Overall, the packaging is basic and travel-friendly. But, there is nothing too fancy about it.

The shade “Silk Stone” is a warm toned metallic grey shade with some lavender hues. It has medium sized silver shimmers. The shimmers don’t look too chunky or OTT, but it has a very shiny metallic finish, which everyone may not like. According to the brand, this shade is most flattering for fair skin tones, but it will look ashy on deeper skin tones. Such shade can go well with heavy eye makeup. This shade is great as a topcoat on other lipsticks. It is definitely not an everyday lipstick, but it looks quite different from the usual lip colors. Mostly the metallic finish lipstick has a crème formulation, so its matte formula makes a difference.

Most of the shades of this range have average pigmentation. This shade is better in pigmentation than the shade “Pure Gold” and “Copper Rose“. It is easily buildable. Two-three swipes are needed to get proper coverage. It helps in hiding pigmentation of the lips. It has a mild vanilla fragrance, which is barely bothersome.

The texture of the lipstick is soft and smooth. It glides easily on the lips but it drags the lips a little if the lips are not well exfoliated and moisturized. The texture is so soft and smooth. It is so lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. It does not have a thick or heavy texture. It does not feel sticky. The formula is neither too drying nor really moisturizing. So, I always use a lip balm beneath to keep my lips hydrated for long. The lipstick does not have creasing tendency. It never looks patchy on the lips. It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips and it does not transfer as much.

It lasts for approximately 3-4 hours on my lips without having any meals. It fades away completely after having meals leaving shimmers behind. It does not leave chunky shimmers behind and it is easy to remove. Overall, I liked the quality and unique shade range.
