L’Oreal Paris has added Gold Obsession lipsticks to their L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Lipstick range. I have picked a few shades from this range and today’s review is going to be on the shade “Rouge Gold” from L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold Obsession Lipstick. Read on to know how it fared for me.

My Experience with L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold Obsession Metallic Lipstick Rouge Gold:

Let’s begin with the packaging of this baby. L’Oreal Paris always comes up with really interesting and attractive packaging. The lipstick comes in the regular “Color Riche” lipstick packaging. The lipstick tube is glossy black in color and has a beautiful metallic gold cap. This cap shuts very securely making a click sound and ensures that the packaging is purse friendly. The metallic gold cap looks quite attractive and classy.

The lipstick tube has a color-coded block at the front which helps to spot the shade from makeup stash. Also, there is a color-coded sticker at the base of the tube, which bears the shade name and number. The lipstick has a normal twist-up mechanism, which works pretty smoothly. The lipstick bullet has a beautiful shape, which facilitates easy and smooth application. The lipstick bullet is quite firm and does not break or detach from the base. Overall, I love the packaging of these lipsticks.

Being a lipstick junkie, I easily get attracted towards new shades of lipsticks. I was a die-hard matte lipstick lover, but slowly and gradually, I have grown my love for crème finish lip colors also. These “Gold Obsession” lipsticks caught my attention a few weeks ago, but I was quite skeptical about this lipstick being frosty kind of initially, but when I swatched them at the store, I loved that subtle golden sheen and grabbed four of these.

“Rouge Gold” is a beautiful tomato red kind of shade with neutral undertones, which makes it a perfect shade for every skin tone. It has subtle golden shimmers in it which adds dimension to the lipstick and prevents it from looking over the top. This is a perfect statement red lipstick which adds glamour to the overall look. It is definitely not an everyday shade, as it is bold, bright and kind of bling, but all these factors make it a perfect party or wedding lip color. It looks quite different from the usual crème finish lip color.

It instantly brightens up the face. This range of lipsticks has sheer pigmentation, but still the color is buildable up to some extent. One swipe delivers sheer coverage, which can be built up with 2-3 swipes, but the lipstick may not hide highly pigmented lips well and too much layering of the lipstick makes it crease easily as it has very creamy and smooth texture. It sets to a pretty glossy finish and gives fullness to the lips.  Though it looks slightly glossy initially, but later on, it sets to a soft velvety kind of finish.

The texture of the lipstick is buttery smooth and glides pretty smoothly on the lips without causing any dragging. The texture is so soft and smooth. It does not cling to the dry patches of the lips. It is so lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. It does not have a thick and heavy texture. It does not feel sticky on the lips. The lipstick is quite moisturizing and keeps my lips hydrated all the time. The lipstick is enriched with jojoba oil, which makes it a great choice for dry lips. It looks lovely on the lips and never gets patchy. It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips and looks smooth on the lips.

The creamy formula of the lipstick makes it prone to transfer a lot. The lipstick lasts for approximately 3-4 hours on my lips without having any meals. It fades away completely after having meals and leaves a light reddish tint to the lips. Also, the shimmers in the lipstick are easy to remove and do not look over the top even when the color fades away. I tried applying the gold lipstick from this range on top of this one to create an ombre effect. Though, I could not work with it so well may be because of its super glossy formula, which makes the lipstick slip very easily and gives a very little hold. But, still I love the golden sheen it imparted to the lips. Overall, I am kind of loving these new lipsticks from L’Oreal.
