How are you all doing? I am still drooling over Deepika’s looks in Bajirao Mastani because she definitely rocked the entire Nizami look. Moreover, I got totally lured towards her lip colours especially the deep red and berry ones. And I finally found something close in the new launched range by Maybelline called “Lip gradation”. So here is lip gradation in “Red 1” for you guys!

My Experience with Maybelline ColorSensational Lip Gradation Red 1:
The Maybelline lip gradation lip colours are available in 8 shades and these 8 shades left me in confusion because all of them looked equally beautiful. But I finally made my mind and picked 4 out of these.
Packaging: The Maybelline Lip Gradation comes in a long and sleek packaging with the lip colour at one end and the smudger at the other. It has the name written over it in glossy silver fonts and the shade name label is stuck at the bottom of the smudger. The crayons are colour coded which makes it easier than ever to spot the one I want to use. The twisty thing at the bottom works perfectly and the cap stays tight, so no need to worry about the lip colour chipping. They are priced at 500 which initially I thought was high but then after I tried them, I thought anyone would be ready to spend that much for a supermatte lip colour which stays more than the lip crayons of any other brand.
Shade: There were 8 shades and I got to know that a lot of people were complaining that the shades weren’t unique. But I guess the shades are perfect because as we all know Maybelline caters to masses, mostly to the younger generation and these are the regular shades that the girls use. So I am pretty much happy with all the 8 shades. “Red 1” is a very hot, deep crimson red shade which is superbold and beautiful at the same time. It probably resembles the shade of juicy cranberries. Plum and deep red lips have been so much in vogue this winter and this too is a perfect shade to carry on that winter trend. It is not a very bold red; hence this can surely be a substitute if you cannot carry blood or tomato reds. It instantly adds a dose of spice to my makeup and brightens up my face. My skintone looks a lot of fairer than usual. It portrays a very confident and a strong image of a woman wearing this. So out of the all 4 that I picked, this is my favourite shade because I am a little biased towards reds.
Pigmentation, consistency and finish: The consistency is extremely creamy and feels more like a mousse rather than cream. It glides on supersmoothly on my lips covering my lips in the beautiful orange colour in just one go. The pigmentation is very intense and is great enough to cover the pigmented lips too. The consistency is definitely soft, so I would advise not to apply pressure while using this. The finish is supermatte which looks extremely stunning on the lips. It is matte but not drying at all. So in all, it is a great product.
Smudging: I don’t know why they created this concept because a very few women would like to carry ombre lips. And the thing that they have provided to create did not impress me! The smudger is soft and great for smudging but the lip colour smudges all unevenly creating patches on the lips. Also, the product totally clings to dry patches after smudging, so this is a big no-no; rather it works amazingly as a plain lip colour.
Staying power: The staying power is incredible! It stays for more than 7-8 hours on my lips with water, snacks and meals too. Only a little colour gets ripped off after having a meal, but the colour stays bold throughout. Even though the colour goes off after 7-8 hours, it leaves a pretty strong stain which we can easily remover with a makeup cleanser.
Pros of Maybelline ColorSensational Lip Gradation Red 1:
• Colour coded crayons are so easy to identify.
• The packaging is sleek and long which makes it travel friendly.
• The consistency is supercreamy and glides like butter on a hot toast!
• The pigmentation is superintense; will cover pigmented lips completely.
• “Red 1” is a beautiful, deep crimson red shade which resembles the colour of juicy cranberries.
• It raises that hotness quotient and makes you look super sexy the moment you apply it.
• This will suit all generations, and will look classy on all your outfits.
• It stays on my lips for 7-8 hours with meals, snacks and water.
• The finish is perfectly matte which looks gorgeous.
Cons of Maybelline ColorSensational Lip Gradation Red 1:
• The smudger doesn’t work well; it creates a very tacky look and it looks like half of my lip colour has come off after eating.
• L’Oreal tests on animals.
IMBB Rating: 4/5
Will I Repurchase/Recommend Maybelline ColorSensational Lip Gradation Red 1?
I love both Red 1 and Red 2 because they are some amazing shades of red and the matte finish definitely makes it look even more stunning. These lip colours are highly recommended because these are some of the best new launches of lip colours that I have tried recently. So check out the shades coming up and pick your favourite ones!
Conclusion: Leaving aside the gradation effect, these work brilliantly and I am using this every time I step out of the house.
