Maybelline Master Flush Stick Cherry Bomb Review

Skin type: dry and occasionally acne-prone
Skin tone: fair with neutral undertones

Hello fellow IMBBians,

I hope you all have been doing great. This is my first product review on IMBB and I am so excited to share my experience with you all. Being a student, I am always on the hunt for affordable products and Maybelline has been my all time favourite drugstore brand. Recently, Maybelline launched their ‘Master Flush Stick’, a new range of blushes in a stick form. They are the 1st colour-changing blush sticks for a naturally flushed look. The “colour changing” tagline intrigued me and that’s the reason I purchased it. I bought it in the shade ‘Cherry Bomb’. So today, I am going to share with you my experience of using this product. Let’s see how this product fared for me.

My Experience with Maybelline Master Flush Stick Cherry Bomb:

For the very first time, Maybelline New York has launched blush in a stick form. The Maybelline New York Master Flush Stick range comes in two different shades: Light Pink and Cherry Bomb. Out of these two shades, I picked the one in the darker shade – Cherry Bomb. The other shade, “Light Pink”, looked lighter considering the colour intensity that a blush should deliver.

Maybelline Master Flush Stick Cherry Bomb Packaging

Packaging:
Starting off with the packaging, The Maybelline New York Master Flush Stick comes in a black coloured cardboard box that has a lustrous finish. Since this is a creamy blush and comes in a stick form, it has a retractable tube which is convenient to use. The other end comes with a blending sponge which helps in the easy blending of the product to achieve that unique flushed bloom on cheeks.

The shade name, directions for use and ingredient details are mentioned on the body of the box. The packaging is lightweight and is travel-friendly thus saving you from the hassle of carrying powder blushes along with other necessary accessories. With the Maybelline New York Master Flush Stick, your blush makeup game is definitely sorted.

Shade:
The shade “Cherry Bomb” is a beautiful dark berry pink shade that has reddish undertones. Although, this shade appears quite dark when applied it blends into the skin effortlessly giving naturally pink flushed cheeks. I absolutely love this shade. It adds up an instant pop of colour to my face and suits all Indian skin tones.

Pigmentation:
Pigmentation is great and only a single swipe will give a quick natural glow to your cheeks. However, you can apply two or more strokes for building a more intense colour. It is perfectly wearable on an everyday basis and your makeup will never look over-the-top.

Texture:
This creamy blush glides smoothly on my cheeks and sets to a satin matte finish, which is just adorable. The blush gives a subtle finish that gives you a naturally flushed look. It is ideal for casual day look/office look. So, if you want naturally flushed cheeks without your makeup being over the top, this must be your pick. The formula is lightweight and is really comfortable to wear.

After application of the base makeup, I swipe this cream blush 2-3 times depending on the amount of the colour intensity that I seek. Then, I blend the product with the sponge applicator in circular motions to evenly diffuse the colour on the cheeks. The sponge applicator absorbs most of the product during blending, so you would end up using more product than the required amount. This is definitely a downside of the sponge applicator. So, it will be better if you blend the product using your fingers to avoid unwanted wastage.

Maybelline Master Flush Stick Cherry Bomb Review

As far as the tagline of “colour-changing blush” is concerned, initially you would not spot any difference in the colour intensity. However, after some 30 minutes, there was a slight change in the colour intensity on my cheeks. I observed the colour darkening a bit and but the change was hardly perceptible.

These changes are subject to your skin colour, temperature and pH value and results will vary from person to person. The formula is interesting but there is a downside as well. The formula is certainly not buildable because layering this product will hamper the underlying base makeup. You are advised to apply as much product as you might require in the beginning to prevent messing up with your makeup.

This blush comes handy in other ways too. You can use it as an eyeshadow or as a lip tint. It acts a tinted lip balm with subtle glow whereas on your eyelids it looks so dramatic. You can even try it on bare skin without applying any makeup. It looks so natural that it foxes the beholder so as not to even consider it the work of a blush.

Staying Power:
It stays for a good amount of 7-8 hours depending on the outside temperature. You can extend the longevity by setting your makeup with a finishing spray. Since Cherry Bomb is a dark shade, the colour does not vanish completely and leaves a rosy tinge on the cheeks. The product also comes off easily with any makeup remover.

Overall:
The Maybelline New York Master Flush Stick has an interesting formula and is worth giving a try to take a break from using powder blushes. I totally love this range of creamy blushes!!
