Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hi ladies,

I am back after a long time and hopefully with a bang! Today I will be reviewing Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette. Yeah, yeah! Before you all go “this is a limited edition palette”, let me tell you this palette is here to stay. No points for guessing this is a hot-selling, affordable palette which keeps getting out of stock as soon as the stocks are replenished. And, looks like this made the brand make this wonderful palette a permanent product in their collection. Let’s get straight into the review now.

My Experience with Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette:

Apparently, Jaclyn spent two years in making this palette because she wanted all the colours to be bang-on and a complete palette which can be used to create all possible looks. Well, she nailed most of those aspirations. All the colours are stunning and pigmented. The pan size is decent to last a lifetime.

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette Packaging

I feel the palette offers a great value of money amidst all the brands that are coming up with 12 colours in palettes costing more than $50. These colors have a very faint medicine kind of smell, which is not at all bothersome as it hardly stays. I miss the infused scents in Morphe products the most.

The packaging isn’t very great, I must honestly mention. Well, I guess that’s because this is an affordable product. The outer hardboard is really bad and flimsy. The actual palette is better but I will not say it’s very travel-friendly; a tin or plastic would have been way better. There is no mirror and no brush either.

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette Close Up 1

Also, the names of the shades are not written on the box because of space constraint, I guess. They give an additional sheet with shade names. The likelihood of getting that misplaced is as high as KRK getting into any controversy – just unavoidable.

These were the few cons but texture, pigmentation and color selection are so commendable that this palette beats all. Initially, I wondered how come it took two years to make a palette but I guess that’s hard work. People seldom realize that. Any good product or creation takes time and this palette is a proof of the same. Please note that for my swatches I have picked up colors in a circular motion and these are just one swipe each.

All of the shades are super pigmented and there’s minimal fallout. Metallic shades are to-die-for and mattes are very buttery; there are not at all hard, rough or streaky. Most of the names of the shades are not color or shade names exactly, but names of people close to her and of those who have helped her in the process. The website shows Jaclyn’s explanation of all the shades. Let’s get to know the shades better with my views about them.

Enlight: An out-of-this-world, universal shade for brow bone and inner shadow magic. This is a matte brow bone highlight shade; a little powdery-buttery in texture.
Beam: Amp things up with this frosted version of Enlight, it’s great for deeper skin tones. Again, a brow bone highlight and maybe for inner corners too but with a shiny/frosty tinge.

Silk Crème: Your transitional, creamy-matte crease color with yellow undertones. A perfect transition matte light brown-yellow shade.
M.F.E.O: Peach, matte and cool: made for each other (hence the name). As the name suggests, it cannot be called one color. It has a matte buttery texture that’s good to give depth to crease.

Faint: Love this princess shade. No matter how fair skin you are, this fiercely frosty shade goes great all over the lid. All over the lid or half lid color, gives a pigment kind of feel. It can be used with a wet brush for a more intense look. Extremely buttery.
Sissy: For the rose-gold queens out there, this super-girly shade was named after my sister. This one is a metallic rose gold shade – extremely butter and perfect for all over lid application.

Little Lady: Confession: I call my sister ‘little lady’ and this is her second fave color. Perfect to rock at the office since it’s not too gold or out there. It’s the perfect shimmery wash of neutral. A close to rose gold shade with strong peachy undertones – metallic and buttery.
Creamsicle: OB-SESSED with this flattering yet daring color. Pop it into the crease to make the color of your eye’s pop. A yellow mustard matter shade, powdery but minimal fall out.

Butter: Super creamy with a warm, terracotta undertone makes this an amazing shade of your crease color. Light orange matte shade for adding depth to the crease.
Pooter: For those of you not comfortable with super warm colors, this neutral chestnut shade, named after an inside family joke, is for you. A chocolaty light brown matte, buttery-powder in texture.

Pukey: Yes, I named a color Pukey. My favorite matte color in the whole palette. SO creamy. SO pigmented. This one is the ultimate warm brown. A matte mustard shade, buttery-powder in texture.
Hunts: Linda made this daring, boldly blendable shade happen. I love it because…it’s perfect. The creamiest shade in the palette. My fave shade of all-time. A fiery warm brick red shade with a matte texture.

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette Shimmer Shadows

Firework: Dare I say this is the most shimmering shade? It’s great for all over the lid and for creating a warm, smoky eye. Partner it up with any of the matte orange shades. Amazing metallic reddish – orangish shade, it’s a warm tone and perfect for Indian functions
Queen: The perfect gold. I have nothing else to say. A perfect metallic gold.

Obsessed: I was looking to create a shade for the perfect smoky eye. This took forever to get right, but it’s perfect and I’m total, you guessed it, Obsessed. Metallic rose gold, creamy and buttery. Nothing to like it.
S.B.N.: One of my most-used, all-over-lid colors is this deep, pinky-bronze shade. It creates the perfect, smoky but natural look. S.B.N…N.B.D. Metallic, buttery, warm-toned pinky bronzy shade

Hillster: God, I love this color all over the lid or on lower lash line. I wanted a good range in this palette, and this is the deepest warm shimmer we have to offer. Metallic, chocolate brown buttery shadow. Can be used on outer corners when creating a warm smoky eye.
Roxanne: I named this after myself (my middle name is Roxanne). That may be narcissistic, but I don’t care. My subscribers know this is my favourite color in the world. I honestly use it every day on lower lash line or outer crease. Matte orangy brown for the crease. Pigmented and buttery.

Jacz: An actual burgundy with great color payoff. These high-pigmented mattes go through lots of rounds to make them this super creamy. Matte, creamy maroon red for outer corners.
Buns: This is Linda’s favorite crease color, but it took some time for it to grow on me. We removed it from the palette at least 5 times. I hated it at first, but now…obsessed. It’s a great everyday neutral shade for all skin tones. Matte muddy shade for crease or transition.

Cranapple: A true cranberry shade perfect for all over the lid. As the name tells this is a mix of apple and cranberry. A very metallic festive shade.
Royalty: I love it so much. The purplest of purples. A badass purple. No undertones. Just shimmery purple (I had to create one) that’s great to layer. Oh my god. Did you just see how pigmented this purple is??? It’s metallic and totally a royalty!

Twerk: The reason this color is in the palette? I hate blue. I wanted to be able to wear an awesome shade of blue and this is it. Bold, fun and totally wearable with major wow factor. A perfect semi-metallic blue for the blue smoky eye.
Hustle: For those of you not into warm shades, this is 100% cool with gunmetal, purple undertones.
Meeks: The best bronze out there (and named after one of my best friends, because that girl loves her bronze). Not too metallic, and all ages can rock it whether you’re 14 or 40. This one is a rose gold look-alike with lavender undertones for me.

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette Blue

24/7: Completely different formula than the rest of the palette: pressed glitter, baby. Apply with finger, or a very wet brush, for a sophisticated, fresh-from-the-runway look. It’s the perfect party copper.
Chip: I use this shade all the time to smoke out outer corner and lower lash line. Creamy, smooth and highly pigmented. Win, win, win. This reminds me of Java Chip coffee like shade matte but little streaky.

Mocha: SO chocolatey and super warm, perfect for deepening any eye look. Want some amazing finely milled chocolate on eyes??? Why not??
Pool Party: My favorite pop of color ever! Beautiful turquoise with flecks of glitter may seem over the top, but it’s not. It’s super wearable (just like a swimsuit). This turquoise shade with a metallic look is super impressive. Stands out in the palette.

Jada: Named after my niece since this is her fave color in the whole world. Very similar to Pool Party, but with a matte spin. A greenish blue matte, butter and perfect for a popping eye look.
Diva: Bye-bye Christmassy green shades. I so wanted green in this palette, but a neutral one to wear all over lids and layer with warm reds…and not make you think of Santa. Well, it’s a dark, pretty khaki green shade for me with a metallic tone; good to be used in outer corners.

Enchanted: This deep, matte green is Diva’s (and all the other green shades) partner in crime. It is actually same as Diva but exact matte.
Central Park: I wanted every woman and man to have the option of a cool, matte brown. Again a muddy matte (kinda darker Pooter). Good for the crease.

Soda Pop: We were so excited to get this color perfect. So deep and so dark. You almost think it’s black, but it’s purple. And one of the most complementary shades for any eye color. A darker and matte version of Hustle.
Abyss: “Matte and black as hell. One of the blackest blacks I’ve seen. So hard to make black rock, but we did it.” Well, disagree, we have seen better blacks! This one is completely matte and can be used on outer corners or lower lash.

Phew! That was a long one.

I have tried creating a blue brown smokey eye with a long wing. Shades used: Beam, Silk Creme, Butter, Chip, Royalty and, of course, Twerk.
