Hello beautiful people,
NARS lip pencils do not need any introduction. They are in the market since long and have been garnering love from one and all. I have a couple of them, and on my recent trip to Sephora, I tried the shade “Damned.” It did not impress me and I was not happy the way it looked on me, so buying it was out of question. I wanted to remove it and reapply my lipstick, but then left it that way. I came out of the mall and checked it again in my pocket mirror and boy! it was love at first sight, or second should I say!!:P I loved how the shade looked on me, and went back to Sephora and picked it up. I guess, it was store lights that did the trick earlier. So now, that I have already confessed my love for the product, let’s check out more details 🙂
The application of a lipstick combined with the convenience of a pencil in a jumbo crayon design. Lips are instantly saturated with rich pigments and a velvety matte finish. The long lasting, non-drying formula is enriched with emollients for a creamy texture, while a combination of unique silicones ensures long-lasting, seamless color for hours. Use for lining, all-over lip color, or pairing with another lip product.
- Rich, vivid shades.
- Enriched with Vitamin E.
- Convenient, easy application.
- Shade: Damned – rich magenta.
My Experience with NARS Damned Velvet Matte Lip Pencil:
Packaging: NARS Velvet Matte Lip pencils are chubby crayon sticks which require sharpening. I would have loved it more if this product was retractable, can’t stand the product wastage during sharpening. The crayon is color coded at the bottom, so storing them upside down would make it easy to pick the shade from your stash in case you have more than one of these.
Shade: The shade is so very pretty. NARS describes “Damned” as a rich magenta color, but it is a very lovely berry shade. Though this is a shade perfect for fall and winters, it might seem inappropriate that I bought it now when it is time for summery shades, but it is still cold in Minnesota and spring does not seem to be anywhere near. 😉
Application: The product goes smoothly on the lips and there is no tugging or pulling. It deposits a nice amount of color in a single swipe, but I prefer layering it up to intensify the color. Though it is matte but it is not very drying. My dry lips do not feel the need of a lip balm during the wear, but after removal, I have to apply lip balm as soon as possible. There is no bleeding or feathering. It does not settle into lip lines, but clings to any dry patches and so prior exfoliation is a must.
Staying Power: The staying power is great too. It stayed on me for around 6 hours with lights snacks and drinks, and left a stain thereafter, but with heavy meals, especially oily food, it fades from the centre of the lips and leaves a ring behind which looks very unflattering. Reapplication is patchy as it kind of rubs over the existing product and does not look nice and even. It is better to remove any remaining traces and apply it all over again.
It comes off with a good makeup remover and does not stains my lips. It also makes my teeth appear whiter.
