Hi beauties,

Today I am going to review a unique product from NYX called the ‘NYX Wonder Pencil’ in the shade ‘Medium’. It is available in three shades- light, medium & dark.

Product Claims:

On their website, NYX describes this pencil as ‘Wonder Woman, meet the Wonder Pencil…the essential pencil that fulfills all of your beauty desires. Conquer 3 critical make-up tasks with one product: CONCEAL flaws and blemishes with creamy precision; LINE your lips against lipstick bleeding and fading; and BRIGHTEN your eyes along the water line. Will wonders never cease? Not with the Wonder Pencil in your bag!’

How to use: Use the Wonder Pencil as a concealer, simply apply the pencil onto your imperfections and blend with a brush or clean fingers. To use it as a lip liner, line the outside of your lips and then fill in with the Wonder Pencil to make your lip color pop. Lastly, to brighten your eyes, line the water line and illuminate your look.

My Experience with NYX Wonder Pencil – Medium

• Packaging– The pencil is of the same color as that of the shade. It has a black plastic cap that fits snugly to the thin, wooden pencil. It is not a twist-up kind of a pencil and needs to be sharpened. Unlike my other experiences with NYX pencils, this pencil is pretty easy to sharpen and can be sharpened with any standard eye pencil sharpener.

• Texture– It is smooth, waxy and matte. It has an optimum softness to it. It does not tug on the skin but does not melt either. Once applied, it blends easily with a finger.

• Color– It is a flesh-colored pencil with  a slight pink undertone to it.

 

• Pigmentation–It is moderately pigmented

• Application tips

It can be used in a number of ways:-

1) As a reverse lip liner : To be honest, the first time I heard of this pencil, I had to google what a reverse lip liner was 😛
Anyways, after using this for a while, I have mastered this technique to create big, well-defined lips. Just take this pencil and outline your lips just outside your natural lip line.What it does is create a contrast (concealer-like effect) outside your lips, so when you fill in your lips with your lipstick, the end result looks very neat and polished. It works especially well if you are going to apply a dark/ bright lip color.

2) As a nude eyeliner/ brightener: Use this on your bottom waterline to create fully-awake big and bright eyes.

3) As a highlighter beneath your eyebrows to create a well-defined arch

4) As a concealer- It can be used to spot conceal blemishes although this particular shade a little light for me in that aspect. I am NC 35 for reference, so girls lighter to my skintone can use this particular shade for that purpose too.

Pros of NYX Wonder Pencil – Medium

-Multipurpose- Can be used as a reverse lip liner, eye brightener, highlighter and spot concealer
-3 shades so you can pick the closest to your skintone
-Good Pigmentation
-Does not tug
-Blends easily
-Affordable
-Easy to carry
-Can be easily sharpened which is better hygienically

Cons of NYX Wonder Pencil – Medium

-Not suitable as a concealer for oily skinned girls because of its waxy texture
-Might feel slightly uncomfortable as an eyeliner for girls with very sensitive eyes

Would I recommend NYX Wonder Pencil – Medium?

Absolutely yes!

Lastly, I don’t know if the triple-use claim would work for everyone but for me personally, I love using our as a reverse lip liner (It works so well in creating those ‘big & defined lips’ look) and as an eyebrow definer.
