I think she should definiately talk to her daughter about epidural anesthesia beforehand. She should check out the side effects of this type of delivery as well. There is something called “painless delivery” too. Cesarean should be opted for only if there is any danger to the baby. :-))
I am kind of doubtful if this question has been put forth by Poutmati under Uzma’s sister-in-law’s name 😕 😕 😕 😕 😕 😕 😕 :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
“I think she should definiately talk to her daughter about epidural anesthesia ” I think Jomol it would be better if she spoke to her DOCTOR instead of daughter 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Hypnosis for painless delivery
Hypnosis, is a mind body techniques, It is a process of allowing the mind and body to relax deeply. In hypnosis, suggestions are given, which helps in interpreting contractions as a sensation that is allowed and not oppose them. A person who feels “this is excruciating and extremely painful” has a very different experience from someone who says “this strong sensation means my cervix is opening and now every force can make me a mother of a cute baby.”
Many believe hypnosis means being controlled by someone else. This isn’t true as the first premise of this art is that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. No one can force you to do or believe anything that you don’t agree with.
Water birthing a method for painless delivery
Water birth is a type of hydrotherapy for pain management during delivery. It is very much effective for back pain. In this method the woman is made to sit in a tub of warm water for the delivery. The warmth significantly relieves the pain in the fist stage of delivery while cervix of the uterus opens gradually. The buoyancy of the mother and baby allow for a gravitational pull which not only opens up the pelvis, but also allows the baby to descend more easily. Moreover, due to the documented relaxing effects of water, this method is sometimes associated with a decrease in the intensity of contractions, and is thus thought to slow down labour.
Disadvantage of water birthing is one that there is a chance of infection though water and the other disadvantage is the risk of water inhalation by the baby.
Epidural anaethesia for painless delivery
Epidural anaesthsia is the most common method applied for combating pain during delivery. It is given in the form of injection at the lower spine intermittently. The pregnant lady remain conscious and aware of the activities going on, but there is a numbness at the pelvic region. The extra advantage of epidural anaesthesia is that it makes easy for instrumental delivery if any forceps are required and even is sufficient anaesthesia is an urgent ceaserean section is required.
Epidural analgesia is given when labour is well established and the cervix is at least 3 to 4 cm wide.
The biggest disadvantage is that in some case there is sudden drop in blood pressure and patient may feel giddiness and there may also be a problem in rotation of fetal head leading to more instrumental delivery.
oho….I can write a 600-page book on typos made by Poutmati….. :heh: :heh: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :disdain: :disdain:

As a doc i would suggest for absolute normal delivery if der’s no any other problem besides the fear of pain. There is no gain without pain. All other options certainly do have side effects but not this one. Natural is natural and in future the women is less prone to complications. She’s the one who should decide…
yes, I agree with Dr. Priyanka…if there is no complications for a normal delivery….normal delivery is the best option………with Cesarean, there are a whole lot of future problems O:-) O:-) O:-) O:-)
Jomol are u really a doctor? ?:-) ?:-) ?:-)

:dazed: :dazed: :dazed: :dazed: :dazed: :dazed: :dazed:
During pregnancy i was super scared of the pain and majorly of episiotomy :-(( ….i used to read a lot of pregnancy stuff on sites but i never even dared to read the labour process or even saw videos of delivery….but believe me normal delivery is the best option…..i had a normal delivery and everyone in my family were shocked in the manner that i coped with the labour pains coz even an injection gives me the creeps!!!! It was the 1st time i was admitted in an hospital and the 1st time i was on saline….basically wat i m tryin to say is dat at the time of labour the thought of sumthng so beautiful awaiting u gives the strength…best of luck to ur SIL!!!!
Jomolwa…ka hui gawa…kahe sabhi pe poooo :poop: phek rahi ho???????????????

Pregnancy and the pains…and then deliver and run around searching for gold chains and lockets the precious ones throw happily around!!! Kids are scaryyyyy :hypnotized: :hypnotized: :hypnotized: My sis had this bestest friend when she was 2-3 years old..and she took her dad’s wallet and tore each note in it into half and then to ensure that her parents don’t just stick the notes and try to use them, she burned each of them nicely in the fireplace 😀
WAT 😯 …dat is the worst nitemare…..note tearing kid :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( :-((
Yup my sis and this friend naaa…they were the scariest kids. Nobody would agree to keep them in the house if parents are going anywhere…was horrible. Like my mom and dad had to go for these parties and kids not allowed there and everyone would be like “You can leave Radhika here” and no mention of my brat sister. NOBODY wanted her in the house…

:giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: 😐 😐 wait a min..she laughing at meeee..so not phunneeee 😐
I personally feel normal delivery is the best option. Though the pain in unbearable it is only for a short while and also the recovery time is very quick.
I won’t suggest Epidural as I have heard hell lot of side effects to it. Every Dr will ask whether the mum wants an epidural, even b4 they explained about it I said I don’t want one as I have read a lot about epidural.
Just ask your sis to pray to God and everything will go fine. If situation becomes other way the doctors themselves will suggest an option.
My best wishes to your sis 🙂
aarthi…how are u?
Farha……….i just had a tiny winy spelling mishtake and this Poutmati and Hidimbi are pulling my leg and other organs :sidefrown: :struggle: :idk: :struggle: :sidefrown: :weep:

hair is also an organ…………….dead organ :chic: :chic: 😎 😎 😎
Hello Uzma! Being a doc, i wud suggest ur sil to have a normal delivery! Pain s not at all an indication to opt for other types of delivery..Epidural,caesarean n all have its own side effects both n d immediate future n in d long run. On d other hand..pain s only temporary,it will b all gone n forgotten whn u c ur baby’s face! 🙂
vg thanks…its so motivating
i am due on 18th december…frist baby
i know its news :-((
m very scared :tremble:
mom says that the pain is intermittent but best for quick recovery
initially the pain comes in long intervals and then later its quicker and by the time u realize…u have ur baby…
Uzma i would be in positon to tell u in December :tremble:
hope my experience is bearable enough :-((
Awwwww….. :hugright: :hugright: :hugright: :hugright: you’ll be fine Neha!! :-)…Just take good care of yourself and stay happy!!
ya trying so hard …but days are flying …..and due date is hust round the corner
praying day and nite for the baby
thanks so much cali :-* :-*
need ur wishes
:rose: :rose: CONGRATSSSS NEHA :-* :-* ..Dont worry at all yaar..Believe me..wht ur mom said s true..Pain s intermittent..Initially pain cums n long intervals,but it’ll b quick..just breathe..breathe..breathe..take a long inspiration n expire slowly..ask ur hubby to b wid u..n in no time..u’ll c ur baby..den u wont remember a thing u’ve gone thru,as i said..all gone n forgotten 🙂 !! :hugleft: :hugleft:
my hubby wont be able to 😥
altho we did see the birthing suites…but he will faint i feel
doc told him there is a lot fluid business going on
so we dont want another patient on board
thanks a lot for the breathing tip
doc waht do u think abt resting post deliver
is rsting for a month or so sooo essential…
waht do u suggest
Oh 🙂 ! Resting depends on ur recovery Neha..ders no such particular time period..episiotomy normally heals within 2 weeks or so..But juz try not to do any heavy work for a month or so like lifting/carryin heavy things n all..dnt worry neha..whn d time cums..ur hubby wil b der wid u holdin ur hands..especially whn u r n pain.. 🙂 🙂
:-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
CONGRATS NEHA 😀
?:-) :-/ 😕 :giggle: :snicker: 😮 :hypnotized:
“DR” what problems did u have with c sec?
i want to shut out that option completely…
Neha, d prob wid cs is, if its done without any proper indication (ie danger to baby or mother)especially n d 1st delivery, der r high chances dat even d second one will have to go by cs..n den der r also complications like infections, delayed scar healing, ectopic pregnancy, or even scar rupturing n d second delivery(coz durin cs,v will put an incision on uterus na..More likel,d second time,if d uterus cant expand or durin contractions, d previous scar may rupture! N dats not at all good!!) So CS is not at all an option unless otherwise indicated! Am not scaring u Neha..just makin it clear y normal delivery s d safest choice 🙂 🙂
oh thanks VG
coming from u i will really remember this
:-* :-* :-* :hugleft: :hugleft: :hugleft:
Everyone used to say to me Once u c ur baby’s face u will forget all da pain….and i was like WAT 😯 😯 😯 😯 U gotta be kidding me!!!!!! But believe me its true….u wil forget evry damn thng once u c ur lttl cute bundle!!!!! :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
Best of luck dear       ALLLLLL will be welll InshAllah!!!! 😀
:-* thanks so much farha
hope i will be able to tell u the same soon
and thanks to uzma …its soo nice to read all this :-))
Hey Neha…..you didn’t tell us about the baby until now…..BTW, normal is the best option…quick recovery, happy you and baby, and jaldi discharge from hospital. IN Cesarean, you will have to wait for like 5 days to get the discharge and it seems like forever……
ya jomol my bad
everytime i wanted to tell i realized it was either too late or i will tell when i deliver
this way time just passed…and it was too late to tell the news :-((
Hey Neha………..I will suggest you think of extreme pain and then it will be easier for you to travel the distance from there to any kind of pain……….@Farha….how many pushes you had before the baby was out????
hope the answer to this is inspiring 😐
normal delivery is always best.
But in my case I did nt develop much pain and cervix dilated slowly.even after inducing labour for 10 hours, believe me was in labour for 10 hours
at last baby’s heart beat went down ad down.
at last they did an emergency c section giving general anaesthasia.
thank god my baby got saved . but trust me i had experiecnced both labour pain as well as c section.
it is not always wise to say c section is good.
but to me C section did nt give any pain.
but normal birth is always good.
after all u will think that u deserve this pain once after seeing ur little bundle of joy.
u ll completely forget how the pain it was.
in fact i practiced breathing technique throughout when i was in labour.
one should always think that she is not the first operson in this world to deliver a baby.
beacause that thought made me easy.

yeah the comments were fun..
but i dont knw anything abt the question and answers…
C-sec might be the easiest, you recover faster with normal delivery. you can always opt for the epidural for the “painless” experience.
pls keep c section as the last option… but yes the doctor will know better… recovery is a bit lengthier process with c-section but otherwise i haven’t faced any other problems so far…. but as said try the maximum for normal delivery… all the best to ur sis uzma 🙂
and neha…. all d best to u too… 🙂 don’t worry…. i pray that u will have a quick n easy delivery :-)) btw, which hospital?
thnks ramya :-*
what do u say?
good hospital…. my friend had her baby girl there… she was super scared but then finally it was normal delivery… post op care is also very good… so don’t worry dear… 🙂
hi…being a doctor i can tell u that in most private hospitals ppl prefer caesarean section…even women prefer it as its not painful…but go for caesarean only if there is any medical indication..other than that..epidural anaesthesia is the best way…its very safe..n wont be painful..i think its the best option when therz no indication for caesarean.. 🙂
Jomol….dat was exactly my case     !!!!! i was sooooooo scaredddddd it is going to get worsre during the pains…n by the time it used to get over!!!.guesss i got thru the whole thng coz my imagination was much worse!!!! N my angel came out in the third push…i had commented earlier dat my hubby didnt even realise that anshu was out in the third push and kept on encouraging me to push!!!!! 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛
The explanation my midwife gave me was that during labour, gushes of endorphins rush through the body naturally, making you drowsy and almost euphoric. This makes the body and mind capable of tolerating extreme pain without shutting down. She also said that if you or people around you panic, that leads to rushes of adrenaline, causing a “fight-or-flight” response, which in turn can cause aggressive contractions etc. So even though under normal circumstances even a needle hurts, under the influence of endorphins, everything becomes so much more bearable.
I had a normal delivery with no medication whatsoever. Not even a saline. And my pain threshold normally is very low. Still, I could make it. I felt euphoric and drowsy and was able to cope with the pain alright.
With C-section, there may be no pain during the procedure, but the recovery can be quite painful and long drawn. I’m not against C-sections, but be aware that she doesn’t give in to a C-section just because of fear of pain, or pressure from those around her, including doctors, for non-medical reasons.
Good luck!
If she is keen on a normal / natural delivery, then there is a natural birthing centre in Hyderabad, called Healthy Mother.
Wowww Sonal…that was a nice explanation and somehow sounds very comforting 🙂
wow sonal that was sooo soothing
ya my frinds and mom too talk abt this euphoric state and time just passes
no adrenaline for me 😐 only endorphins
these are also released when we work out …and exercise ..happy hormone
Hmm its so weird when i think about all the pain my mom went through to take me out :-((
it seems i was a lazy baby
so C SECTION
and i turned inside the stomach like upside down or something 😛 which made it more difficult.
Babies are fun till their 4
till they wont answer back 😛
good luck neha and Uzma’s sister in law :doctor:
You guys will do very well  and have a cute chubby baby 😀
HI Uzma, a friend suggested speaking to an expert at Mom’s Lounge to her. It’s a wellness centre for expecting and young mothers. Its an initiative my Mom & Me, which is a retails outlet opened by the Mahindra group. You can get more information below.
Thanks Rati! That website seems to be really informative! I will bookmark this for myself for the future use! MOM & ME is very famous here as well ! My sis-in-law got clothes for the baby already from MOM & ME! :-))
Ladies! My sis-in-law is blessed with a baby girl & unfortunately she had to go through C-sec!
She had her delivery at Fernandez hospital! Like Sumi, she didn’t develop any pain, cervix dilated very slow & the baby’s heart beat went down so she decided to go for epidural & that failed aswell , after a few hours doctors suggested C-Sec considering the baby’s heart beat status! She wanted a normal delivery, she tried her best but couldn’t have it! Infact she used to do all the household chores even though there was a maid at home just bcoz some of the elders told her that she needs to be active to have a normal delivery!
All is well that ends well!
Awww!!! COngratulations, Uzma. hope the baby and the mother are fine now. :))
HEalthy mother Natural Birthing Center claims 90 % normal delivery , but please do not go there.
They would make you do all sort of exercises even when you are not in a state to do so. You would have a normal delivery but later on you would realize the aftereffects of it.
