The Body Shop Poppy Nude Lip and Cheek Velvet Stick Review

Hello everyone,

I quite liked the Lip and Cheek Velvet sticks that I had previously tried from TBS (Poppy Coral, Universal) and hence picked the remaining two shades from the collection (Poppy Pink and Poppy Nude). Here are my thoughts on the shade “Poppy N*de.”

The Body Shop Poppy Nude Lip and Cheek Velvet Stick

Product Description:
Give your lips and cheeks a naturally flushed glow with our first chubby sticks. Enjoy a colour sensation with an exquisite velvet matte finish. Matte finish. Decadent velvet texture. With Community Trade marula oil.
Price:
INR 995/- for 4 gm.

My Experience with The Body Shop Poppy Nude Lip and Cheek Velvet Stick:

The packaging is simple with a twist-up mechanism. The base is color coded and is of the same color as that of the product. The cap does not shut with a click, but is tight enough and would not open up in your bag. There is no sharpener provided, so after the tip gets blunt, it is slightly difficult to draw the edges.

The texture is very smooth and glides on the lips like dream.  Exfoliating the lips prior to application is necessary as the texture is not forgiving and dry patches will show up, if any. The pigmentation is low and even multiple swipes do not help to build up the shade. It remains sheer, to such an extent that my pigmented lips show through it. This “Poppy N*de” shade is not impressive as it is a pale whitish-n*de color, which looks horrible on my pigmented lips. Moreover, the low pigmentation adds to the woes; otherwise it could have impressed people with very fair skin tones. To tell you the truth, you are not missing out anything if you have not picked it up 🙂

The sheer color stays on for 1-2 hours maximum after which it disappears. The stick when used as a blush stays on the cheeks for 2-3 hours depending on the base makeup. With foundation beneath, the staying power improves to 4 hours. Since it is a 2-in-1 product, I find the concept to be suitable for busy office-going women and for girls going on short trips. But the shade does not really show up on the cheeks or the lips, so if you like the concept, go for the bolder shades.
