Anne French Creme Hair Remover- Aloe Vera

Anne French Creme Hair Remover [Aloe Vera for Sensitive Skin]

During my school days this was the first hair remover I came across as I was not allowed to wax at such a small age. Without mum’s knowledge I used to remove my hair using Anne French cream. After a couple of times I began to hate the smell and thus I stopped using it. Also I didn’t have patience to wait after the application so I just dumped Anne French.

Recently I saw the ad where it says that they have introduced Anne French with new improved formula so I went to the nearby H&G store to check it out.  Anne French Cream was available in 2 variants – one for normal to dry skin and the other one for sensitive skin. I picked the one for sensitive skin. The box read
• Your trusted Anne French now with a new improved formulation.
• With moisturizer to leave your skin softer and smoother than ever before.
• Now available for normal to dry skin and also for sensitive skin.
• Regular use of Anne French will keep your skin looking so smooth and beautiful, you will want to show it off!

Ingredients

Purified water, Thioglycolic Acid, Liquid Paraffin, Calcium Hydroxide, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Sorbitol Solution, Sodium Hydroxide, Cetamacrogol 1000, Sodium Silicate Solution, Perfume – Compound Herbal, Aloe vera gel, Cetyl Alcohol, Hard Paraffin, Microcrystalline Wax, Stearic Acid, Laponite XLG.

As soon as I got this Anne French in Aloe Vera [For Sensitive Skin] the first thing I did was to smell it. Thank God it was completely different from what it used to be. The smell wasn’t too strong and also not disturbing. As advised I did a patch test and it didn’t harm my skin. Then I applied the cream on my skin and left it for 10 mins. [Adviced time is 7 – 10 minutes] After 10 mins I washed it off and my skin was smooth and I did feel the moisturizing effect. Each and every single hair comes out completely.

The spatula provided with the Anne French cream is not of much use but I had no choice other than using the spatula to apply and remove the cream. The plastic spatula was a bit harsh on my skin. This tiny cute little pot did grab my attention and the 40 gm jar costs Rs.45.

After using Anne French I got 2 heat boils in my skin and I was really irritated seeing that. Also the hair growth started within 2 days time unlike waxing where my hair growth starts only after a week or two.

Pros

• This cream removes all the hair completely.
• Skin feels smooth and moisturized after using this cream.
• The small tub is perfect for trial.
• Not very expensive.
• Smell is decent.

Cons

• Hair re-growth is quick.
• Hair that grows again is rough and thick.
• Darkens the skin slowly.
• Spatula is not skin friendly.
• Causes boils in the skin.

My Rating–

2.5/5

Would I repurchase?

No for the following reasons. Hair becomes thick and rough, darkens the skin and also causes boils though it claims the cream is for sensitive skin.

  1. I also used to hate the smell of anne french. 🙁 It was disgusting but I think back then there were not too many options. I have tried different variants also but none of them worked. All the effort of hair removing used to go in vain after 2-3 days only. 🙁 🙁 Finally I stopped buying it.

I think veet is still better.

  2. Veet is much much better. I had tried Anne French long back and that smell is soooooooooooooooooooooooo soooooooooooooooooooo yucky……i think many don’t go for Anne French now even if its revamped because that horrible smell still lingers :doctor: :doctor: :doctor: :doctor: :doctor: :doctor: :doctor: :doctor: :doctor: :doctor: ……………………….Veet is the best………………..
