Biore – UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen SPF50+ PA+++

Hellloooaa!!!!

Do you guys use a sunscreen every day? No?! Open a new tab in your browser and search for ‘how sun sees you’ in YouTube. I used to be a part of ‘I hate sunscreen club’ because of the greasiness and the white cast it leaves on the face. But after watching that video I jumped out of my skin. I know that Japanese make some of the best sunscreens in the world. Since I never got sunburned nor do I get freckles, I trusted the protection power of my natural skin and did not use a sunscreen all these years. But after watching that video I decided to not to leave my house without sunscreen and ordered Biore UV AQUA Rich Watery essence SPF50+ PA+++ online which I am going to review today.

Product Description:

It is a non-greasy, non-sticky sunscreen with SPF50+ and PA+++. The water based formula hydrates your skin and doesn’t leave any white cast. Makes your skin smooth hence can be used as a makeup base.

Price:

$11.22 for 30ml.

Ingredients: Since I bought this sunscreen from a Japanese seller all the ingredients printed on the tube are in Japanese language. So I tried to navigate their Japanese website using google translate to get the ingredient list. Here are the ingredients:

biore sunscreen ingredients

So this product contains good UVA and UVB filters like EthylhexylMethoxycinnamate and Diethylamino-Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, and some natural ingredients like grape fruit extract which is an antioxidant, lemon fruit extract used as an anti-septic, and orange fruit extract which has anti-inflammatory properties. It also contains Hyaluronic acid which is my one of the favorite ingredients. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant which can hold 1000 times its weight in water. So it attracts water from its surroundings and maintains moisture level in the deeper layers of the skin. But why there is so much alcohol in this sunscreen? This made me weep:( I know that alcohol is used to reduce the greasiness and to provide better absorption of the ingredients but it is in the second place in the ingredients list which means this sunscreen has high content of alcohol.

This sunscreen has Spf 50+. So now what is spf? It means Sun Protection Factor which we all know but what does that number indicate? The number indicates the duration of protection of your skin from UVB rays. For example a person X can stay in sun for 5 minutes without getting sunburn. If he applies a sunscreen with SPF50+ then he can get protection from sunrays for 5*50=250 minutes. PA is the photo aging scale. The more +’s , the more protection from UVA rays.

My experience withBiore UV AQUA Rich Watery essence SPF50+ PA+++ :

Fortunately or unfortunately, I have to leave to the office every day after 1 pm. And our Sun god will be furious during that period. I have dry to combination and dehydrated skin and my face is 1 to 2 shades darker than my neck for obvious reasons.

This sunscreen is in light yellow color and has pleasant citrusy scent which will disappear after applying. It comes with a screw cap. I apply ¼ tablespoon of this sunscreen after my moisturizer to my face and neck. It is slightly runny in consistency and absorbs real quickly in to your skin. It doesn’t leave any white cast. It gives light dewy finish immediately after applying but later it dries in to slightly matte finish. After this sunscreen sets in, your face will feel powdery smooth which I liked the most. May be that is the reason this product claims to be a makeup base also. One more thing which I liked is that this sunscreen does not make your skin dry despite the amount of alcohol it contains. Also no breakouts!! Yay!!! I have been using this sunscreen from more than a month and I can tell, my face tan has reduced significantly which is big + from me. Finally I came out of ‘I hate sunscreen club’ and loving this watery sunscreen very much. Also do not forget to remove your sunscreen at the end of the day.
