How is the New Year coming along for all of you? It is so difficult to hold yourself back with the sale season on. I am somehow trying to control my greed to shop. By the way, I happened to check some new stuff from Colorbar and let me tell you they have gone insane with the pricing these days.
Well, today, I am reviewing yet another lip gloss from Colorbar that I have purchased long back – Colorbar True Gloss in Coral Craving.
Rs. 495 for 3.8 ml.
This gloss comes in a transparent glass tube with a metallic cap. It has a slanted sponge wand applicator.
My Take on Colorbar True Lip Gloss – Coral Craving:
Coral Craving is a bold neon-ish orange color. It would look really good on pale skin tones and to some extent on wheatish skin tones. A lot depends on how to apply the rest of your makeup and what you wear. It would not compliment the dusky skin tones. If you find it difficult to wear it, you can tone it down by applying it lightly or by pursing your lips after the application. Personally, I find it very difficult to carry off this color, sometimes it looks very sassy and sometimes it looks over the top even when the rest of my makeup is neutral.
Just like the other Colorbar true glosses, this too is a lip cream than just a gloss. It is non-sticky and extremely light in texture. Now, this is a little strange, but I don’t find this lip gloss as moisturizing as the Pink Stain that I had reviewed earlier. So, it is better to apply a non-slippery lip balm underneath. I applied it without the lip balm and it settled in the fine lines of my lips.
The staying power of this lip gloss or rather this color is good, but not as good as Pink Stain and Vintage Rose. It stays on for about 3-4 hours without fading after which it starts fading, but will not go off completely unless you use a lip makeup remover to take it off. It survives snacks, but if you eat or drink immediately after applying the gloss, it will not stay on your lips for long. So, after the application, let it settle down for about half an hour or so.
Colorbar True Lip Gloss is similar in texture to the NYX Xtreme lip creams.
Pros of Colorbar True Lip Gloss – Coral Craving:
- Non sticky.
- Good staying power
Cons of Colorbar True Lip Gloss – Coral Craving:
- Not as moisturizing as Pink Stain and Vintage Rose.
- The staying power is good, but not as amazing like the Pink Stain and Vintage Rose.
- It may look loud on dusky skin tones.
- If you have dry lips, it will settle in the fine lines of your lips.
- You will have to use a makeup remover to take this completely off your lips.
Here is how it looks on me when toned down:
Will I Repurchase Colorbar True Lip Gloss – Coral Craving?
May be, if I find the right way to wear this color. I like the color but I find it very tricky to carry it off.
Do I Recommend Colorbar True Lip Gloss – Coral Craving?
If you love bold lip colors, you will love it. So, if you think you can carry it off well, go for it.
