With Essence launching some new lipsticks in the “Sheer and Shine” range, now I have added a few new ones to my collection. So today, I am going to review the shade “Candy Love.” That’s such a cute name, I must say!!

My Experience with Essence Candy Love Sheer and Shine Lipstick:
Packaging: Essence has really upped their packaging game lately. These “Sheer and Shine” lipsticks come in silver shiny bodies with the cover in the shade of the lipstick which is semi-transparent. The packaging is simple, cute and I like that the tube of the lipstick represents the lipstick shade. The packaging is plastic, but a considerable upgrade from the old Essence lipstick tubes. The Essence logo is carved on the lipstick bullet which looks really high-end.
Color: These new “Sheer and Shine” lipsticks by Essence are described as soft and sheer colour payoff with a pleasantly light feeling on the lips. The lipsticks will provide your lips with a subtle colour and a fantastic shine. The shade “Candy Love” is a nice sheer light pink shade with cool blue undertones which may not suit most Indian complexions. I would recommend this shade for fair to medium complexions.
Pigmentation: Since this lipstick is called “sheer,” the pigmentation is not the greatest. It just has a sheer flush of colour with considerable shine. I would say the pigmentation is like a lip balm.
Texture: This lipstick is really glossy and shiny. The formulation is quite lightweight and feels like nothing on the lips. It does not tug or pull during application and is actually quite hydrating. Since I love matte lipsticks, normally I don’t like this finish in a lipstick, but in a n*de sheer lipstick like thisk, it’s quite nice actually.
Longevity: I cannot expect much longevity out of a sheer lipstick with shine! I would say this baby stays on the lips for about 2-3 hours after which it loses shine and starts to fade away. Reapplication is required throughout the day just like lip balms.

- Very sheer color payoff.
- Not long-lasting at all.
- Not available in India.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Essence Candy Love Sheer and Shine Lipstick?
I think Essence has done a fair job on these new lipsticks, the formula is good and I really like the shade selection. But if you are expecting a creamy lipstick with great longevity, then this one is not for you. To explain it in short, I would say it’s just a glorified version of a lip balm with a little less hydration as compared to a lip balm. If this description intrigues you, then there’s no harm trying out some shades at such an affordable price. I am sure not going to repurchase this.
