Lipsticks are my weakness. A pretty plum lipstick is definitely up my alley! With Essence launching some new lipsticks in the “Sheer and Shine” range, I have added a few new ones to my collection. So today, I am going to review a fairly new lip product from the Essence Sheer and Shine Lipstick in “I Feel Pretty.”

My Experience with Essence I Feel Pretty Sheer and Shine Lipstick:
Packaging: Essence has really upped its packaging game lately. The “Sheer and Shine” lipsticks come in silver shiny bodies with the cover in the shade of the lipstick which is semi-transparent. The packaging is simple, cute, and I like that the tube of the lipstick represents the lipstick shade. The packaging is plastic, but a considerable upgrade from the old Essence lipstick tubes. The Essence logo is carved on the lipstick bullet which looks really high-end.
Color: These new Sheer and Shine lipsticks by Essence are described as soft and sheer colour payoff with a pleasantly light feeling on the lips. These lipsticks will provide your lips with a subtle colour and a fantastic shine. The shade “I Feel Pretty” is a nice sheer reddish shade with plumy undertones which will suit most Indian complexions.
Pigmentation: Since these lipsticks are termed “sheer,” the pigmentation is not the greatest. It just has a sheer flush of colour with considerable shine. I would say the pigmentation is like a lip balm.
Texture: These lipsticks are really glossy and shiny. The formulation is quite lightweight and feels like nothing on the lips. It does not tug or pull during application and is actually quite hydrating. Since I love matte lipsticks, normally, I don’t like this finish in a lipstick but in a nude sheer lipstick like this it’s quite nice actually.
Longevity: I cannot expect much longevity out of a sheer lipstick with shine! I would say this baby stays on the lips for about 2-3 hours after which it loses shine and starts to fade away. Reapplication is required throughout the day just like lip balms.

Cons of Essence I Feel Pretty Sheer and Shine Lipstick:
- Color shows up pretty sheer.
- Not long-lasting at all.
- Not available in India.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Essence I Feel Pretty Sheer and Shine Lipstick?
I think Essence has done a fair job with these new lipsticks, the formula is good, and I really like the shade selection, but if you are expecting a creamy lipstick with great longevity, then this one is not for you. To explain it in short, I would say it’s just a glorified version of a lip balm with a little less hydration as compared to a lip balm. If this description intrigues you, then there’s no harm trying out some shades at such an affordable price. I am sure not going to repurchase this.
