My Experience with Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer Dim Light
With the crazy Delhi heat that we have these days, I am relying on products that feel almost nothing or light on skin: BB creams, CC creams or a very thin layer of foundation sheered out with a damp beauty blender. And this primer from Hourglass has been such a go to for me these days. I just slap it on, do a bit of concealing, a little blush, lipstick and I am good to go.

This primer comes in 3 shades Dim Light, Moonlight and Luminous light. I picked up Dim Light because it is a beige color primer and a good match for my skin tone. Sometimes these light/whitish primers end up giving that ashy look to my skin and I don’t like that.

I just do my skincare and then apply pea sized of this primer all over my skin and I lovvvveee the subtle glow it gives to my skin. I was really worried that it might be too ‘luminous’ or ‘glowy’ , in which case you always have to tone down such primers. This is just perfect- a beautiful glow sans oily shine or shimmer. It’s like glow from within.

The consistency is creamy but you have to work fast with it because it sets quickly. I just use my finger tips to apply it and I find it the best way to use it. It has a sheer coverage. Actually it has pretty much no coverage but it gives that soft luminous glow to the skin and also softens the look of pores. It’s like applying a thin veil of glow on your skin. It absolutely does not have any oily or greasy feeling to it. It feels nothing on the skin once it sets. I personally like to use this primer either on its own or underneath BB cream or tinted moisturisers. Under a full coverage foundation, I feel the little radiance it gives to the skin that totally disappears. In that case it works as a great primer that makes your foundation last for a longtime. I have worn this under foundation for as long as 8 hours and I have barely seen my foundation disappear or fade.

Sometimes after applying foundation I also use it on top of my cheekbones so give that natural glow to the skin and it blends just beautifully on the skin.

I don’t find it color correcting or neutralising my skin. It has never broken me out. It does not have any fragrance to it. It also does not make skin ‘more’ glowy or shiny throughout the day. But it may not be the most ideal primer for those with oily skin unless you want to more glowy than you already are. I feel people with oily skin should really use mattifying products as a base and then apply the highlights on top. That imo is an ideal way to go.
I like that it is free of talc, sulphates, parabens etc.

If you ask me honestly, it is not the product you NEED in your life. I feel that you can create this kind of no-makeup glowing look with your BB cream or tinted moisturiser as well. Plus they would add a bit of coverage also. This has zero coverage but gives an absolutely lovely glow-from-within look. I totally and absolutely enjoy using it but I can do without this. BUT if you have good skin and you don’t like to wear makeup everyday, this would be such a fabulous product in your kit for everyday wear. People would seriously ask you about your glow. 😀

    1. awww!! i so need concealer here and there. the primer is really nice. gives that luminous glow. totally enjoy using it . thanks a ton! 🙂

  2. The primer indeed looks pretty good. In this heat, I have only been using aloe vera as moisturiser and some compact powder on top. I swear, the Summer isn’t getting over and my skin so needs them to get over!
