How to Make Gray Hair Black Again!

We can all say what we want about our gray hair, that it’s a sign of wisdom or natural signs of ageing gracefully, but when you’re still young and they pop out of nowhere, you can’t deny that you are tempted to just pluck them out or wish they were black again.

Typically, gray hair is due to the lack of melanin which causes them to fade from their original colour and although you can’t beat it, there are a myriad ways to restore them back. It could be ageing, stress, pollution, lifestyle issues or just genetic reasons which is why we often see them in our young age when least expected. So, for those of you who do have some and don’t feel up to embracing them just as of now, here are some simple ways to make them black again.

1. Chemical Dyes

The most obvious is dying with a chemical dye. However, although the results are immediate, chemicals are harmful in the long run. So, natural ways are always recommended especially for premature gray hair.

2. Black Tea Remedy:

Black tea is considered best for premature graying hair. All you need to do is boil some tea leaves in water (2 tbsp), and allow it to cool down at room temperature. Apply the strained tea water on the hair and then, rinse it out after about an hour with cold water without the use of any shampoo as you want the colour to stay in and naturally dye the hair.

3. Amla, Henna and Coffee Pack:

Indian Gooseberry (Amla) is the best source of Vitamin C with anti-ageing formula that reduces the melanin pigment deficiency that causes our hair to fade and works at recovering dead cells from the scalp. Henna, as we know is an excellent natural colouring remedy for hair. What you will need to make this hair pack is to prepare some fresh paste of henna and add Indian Gooseberry (amla) powder (3 tbsp) and some coffee powder (1 tbsp) to it. Mix this concoction together to make a uniform paste with a little bit of water and apply it on the hair. Let it remain for two hours or so and then wash with a very mild shampoo. This pack not only imparts colour but nourishes the hair by making them super soft, silky and shiny. Very effective remedy for graying hair.

This is the perfect remedy for gray hair at a young age say when you’re in your 20’s or 30’s even. What you need to do is boil the curry leaves in coconut oil and strain the contents so you are left with a liquid. Allow this to cool down and massage it onto the roots of hair before rinsing out.

5. Ribbed Gourd Hair Wash:

Triphala and Bhringraj are ancient Ayurveda herbs that restore dead hair cells and works at reducing graying hair. Take 25 grams each of Amla, Shikakai, Bhringraj and Triplaha powder and make a paste. If you want to use whole products then soak them overnight in a bit of water and then make a paste out of them the next morning. Massage the paste on your hair and leave it in for 20 minutes or so. Rinse the hair out and apply coconut oil on dried hair.

This remedy makes the hair long, shiny, soft and long and is great for white hair in summer. It stops and retards the process of hair whitening and will make the gray ones black from the paste colour. You will have to keep doing this regularly though.

7. Onion Paste Hair Pack:

Onion paste is also regarded as an ace remedy to turn gray hair black again. All you need to do is make a thick paste from the onions and then rub it on your scalp and let it dry. Your gray/white hair will turn black in few days and do ensure that you do it every day religiously. You would need to peel off the onion skin and grind the onions. Apply the paste on your scalp and leave it for 30 minutes or so. You can shampoo your hair too because onion leaves an unpleasant smell and we don’t want that do we.

So, my friends these were some tips to restore your black tresses and see what suits you best. Natural remedies are always a better option, but yes they are gradual and with regular use they will work wonders. All you need to do is be patient.
