My Experience with NARS Velvet Lip Liner – Nihiwatu:

The lip liner comes in a sleek, retractable pencil packaging with a safety cap and an attached sharpener. I totally like its retractable concept even though I know that sharpenable pencils are more hygienic. Over all, I find it pretty user friendly and travel friendly.

My shade “Nihiwatu” is described as a cardinal red, but it looks orange mixed with red to me. This shade is pretty similar to NARS Jungle Red and Dragon Girl Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, and will look great with MAC Ruby Woo and Russian Red (in case you want to pair it with matching lip products). Not only these shades, but you can pair this lip liner with any orange-red lipstick, gloss or lip stain. Even I like wearing it on its own with a dab of matching gloss as it gives a perfect matte finish.

Yes gals, the texture of this liner is such that it effortlessly slips on our lips like butter, giving full color payoff with sharp and precise lines. The shape of the liner helps to define as well as fill in the lip lines. It sets beautifully to a smooth, matte finish which looks good. I love how comfortably it sits on my normal-dry lips, and how it does not look dry or feathered around my lip lines. In fact, this liner forgives minor dryness here & there, apart from hiding even major lip pigmentation.

The formula is really buttery matte and gives precise, crisp features without tugging; my lips feel soft and supple even after wearing this matte lip liner. I am also impressed to see that it does not highlight our dry lip patches and that it does not settle into our lip lines. Hence, it is a perfect choice for everyone, including beauties with pigmented lips. It stays on for good 6-7 hours on my lips while it prevents bleeding and enhances the longevity of my lip makeup. I believe this particular shade is a must-try for every beauty as I am definitely going to get it again.

Cons of NARS Velvet Lip Liner – Nihiwatu:

Well honestly, I can’t think of any cons as it fulfills all of my major criteria; right from the sinfully hot shade to its buttery texture, well defined matte finish and super long staying power. I will definitely get it again as I totally love such reds.
