Clinique Quickliner for Lips Intense Cosmo Review

So, after my review on Clinique Pop Lipstick + Primer Cola Pop last week, here I am with the same brand review but yet another stunning product. As mentioned in my previous review, I walked in to Clinique store to buy a plum colour lipstick but then ended up with a gorgeous Cola pop shade. After finalising the same, I was just strolling in the store to check out the Quickliner for lips and eyes range. I found the shades lovely and I bought another product for lips – Clinique Quickliner Intense Cosmo and here is the review.

‘Quickliner for lips intense’ offers dazzling 12 shades broadly covering all shades from pink, plum to brown and nudes. I tested and liked Intense Liquorice, which is quite close to Clinique Cola Pop Lipstick; but then what captivated me were the shades nearer to plum / pink fraternity – Cranberry, Jam, Passion and Cosmo. The bubbly customer service assistant sensed that I am confused and she cheerfully walked up to me and tried and tested all shades on my lips and gave her suggestions on the same. And, what charmed me in full senses was Intense Cosmo which is a deeper richer plum shade. Yes, finally a plum tint in my kitty! Should I thank my cravings for the shade or the convincing skills of the customer service assistant? No idea!

Product Description:
Silky formula glides on and wears all day. Use it to define the lip line or fill in lips pre-lipstick application. Non-drying formula prevents lipstick from feathering and bleeding. No sharpening required.

How to use:
– Swivel up only 1/8’’ (pencil does not retract to avoid exposing formula to air, which is drying)

My Experience with Clinique Quickliner for lips Intense Cosmo:

Clinique Quickliner for Lips Intense Cosmo is conveniently boxed in a light weighted white carton with underlining floral patterns mentioning all details of the product. The product itself is a nice, lean and slender twistable pencil and the body represents the lip liner colour with a steel grey cap. The good advantage of this pencil is ‘no sharpening required’! Oh, such a relief! Honestly, I don’t like that extra step of sharpening it every time especially, when you are in a hurry! However, a slight downfall is you are left with no idea on how much is remaining inside this trim pencil. Additionally, it is non-retractable. In a way, its advantageous as it prevents drying, but if you mistakenly twist it more, you have no option to twist it back (While taking pictures of the product I did that, and now I can’t retract it)

‘Intense Cosmo’ doesn’t define the colour of the shade by its name as other shades do, like Intense Jam, Café, Cranberry, but it’s a lovely blend of plum and light brown hues. The colour is nearer to deep mauve shade, which looks lovely on almost every skin tone.

I have a typical Indian medium skin tone and it perfectly suits me. While colouring my lips, I usually fill in a darker lipstick to intensify the look, or at times fill in with the same pencil or on those experimental days, I blend a couple of pink/purple shades. Precisely, it is a quite subtle shade which gives you the freedom to intensify or undermine the colour of your lips. The floor is yours ladies; as kind of a versatile colour, do whatever you feel like.

You would certainly love the texture of this Quickliner. It is creamy but doesn’t replicate buttery or nourishing properties of a lipstick. It balances a right combination of being creamy as well as resilient to hold on the colour and define your lips. It has a velvety feel to the lips, which helps to glide in effortlessly and run even application, suitable colouring and shape to the lips before applying lipstick. Just a heads up – apply quiet lightly on the lips, as it is soft and smooth, it does have the tendency to break easily.

Yes, it doesn’t feather or bleed even though it has a little gel-like nature. However, to appropriately intensify the colour, I would suggest you to apply primer or a foundation before your lip makeup. Though the shade is subtle, just one nice swipe is enough to outline your lips. However, if you desire to, you can easily build the shade to get a bold or dark colour. Beauties with dry skin, please apply a lip balm in regular intervals to condition your lips, unless you are applying a head strong moisturising lipstick. It claims to be long lasting which is true but again doesn’t stand still when you have your meals or even drinks. Yes, reapplication is required as it is for almost all lipsticks.
