Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer Cola Pop Review

Product Purchased by IMBB

Well this is my first sponsored product from IMBB. I am extremely elated and I would love to thank IMBB for the encouragement and motivation it provides to its contributors. The new scheme which was introduced from 1st September 2016 has totally raised the bar. Since this is my first sponsored product, I really wanted to purchase a sure-shot remarkable product, and here it is – Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer Cola Pop.

For a long time, I was checking a few drugstores to purchase a lipstick that could look elegant at the workplace as well as chic for any outing. As always, I was inclined towards plum shades as I feel that heavenly plum hues enhance my look and are perfect for any occasion. Previously, I have tried Maybelline Passion Plum and L’Oreal Blush in Plum and they fared amazingly well for me. So this time too, I wanted to buy one but Clinique didn’t allow me. Why? Read on.

My Experience with Clinique Pop Lip Colour and Primer Cola Pop:

I was hunting for luscious lipsticks in Covent Garden, London this month. I visited MAC and Urban Decay but then finally Clinique captivated me. Clinique has launched its new range – Pop Colour and Primer in sheer, matte and demi-matte finishes. This range provides several shades that suit every skin tone, mood and occasion. This range presents so many options for you to pick in plum that you get perplexed when it comes to finalising your product. As usual, I picked up a range of plum shades from all the varieties. I tested Raspberry, Plum and Grape but what startled me was Cola Pop which has a demi-matte finish. The richness, elegance and charisma of this lip colour fascinated me. As the name suggests, it is a cola colour; but, mind you ladies, it is not as dark as it looks.

Needless to say, the packaging of Clinique lipstick is quite sturdy, well-defined and sleek. In fact, it has a chubby body, chunky lipstick and a stout form. The cap has a sleek mirror finish and the base represents the lipstick shade. I have an oily skin and I was avoiding metallic or sheer finished. In fact, I was looking for a matte lipstick which could tone down and balance my look. But then this demi-matte finish of Clinique changed my outlook. It is a well-balanced combination of sheer and matte, which would certainly suit almost all occasions. Additionally, the lipstick is packed with a primer which softens the application and promotes a long-lasting colour.

Cola Pop classifies itself in the n*des category and is a deep dark red with brown tinges. It has a nice rich touch which essentially suits medium skin tone. The pigmentation of this shade is something to vouch for. Just one sweep of this lipstick is good enough to get a wonderful colour; however, it depends on how dark or light you want the color to be. It is basically a creamy lipstick as it has a primer built-in. The lipstick has shea and castor oil to keep your lips nourished throughout the application. Thankfully, it doesn’t go flaky at all. It glides on smoothly and gives a feeling of a soft lip balm.

It leaves a velvety soft and shiny finish. It claims to last 8-9 hours, but really? Honestly, whichever brand or shade it is, somehow I am never convinced that the lipstick will last this long on my lips. Cola Pop starts fading after 4-5 hours and obviously a touch-up is required after your lunch break. The good thing is that it’s not a very transferable formula but you need to take care of the lipstick when you drink or eat. It is quite lightweight and yes it’s fragrance-free. So whether you have a boardroom meeting, a wedding, or you are just hitting a bar, this shade will stand out and give you a quick glow, grace and charm.
