Skin Type : Normal to Dry; can be sensitive at times.
Hi Everyone, 🙂
I adore products from Darphin. It’s a French beauty brand. You can easily get this brand at their pharmacies. I am reviewing 3 products from this brand for you all today – Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm, Darphin Rose Aromatic Oil and Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm.
Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm:
$45.00/INR 2800 approximately for 40 ml jar.
I adore cleansing oils and cleansing balms. My normal to dry skin loves them plus I am quite a regular makeup user. I do feel that these balms and oils help in keeping my skin supple. They don’t strip away the moisture from my skin plus a lovely light massage at the end of the day is quite relaxing. Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm comes in this lovely round pot. It’s a honey-coloured thick balm. It includes Marula Oil, Sage, Ylang Ylang and Rosewood Essential Oils. You apply it on the skin, emulsify it a little with water, it turns into a white milky cream that you can massage around on the face. It helps in breaking all your makeup and pretty much removes all of your eye makeup. It does not get rid of the stubborn waterproof eye makeup but I’d say all your face makeup and pretty much 95% of your eye makeup is cleaned after using it. If you are wearing light makeup, this would take down pretty much all of that. It smells lovely and quite calming. It makes the whole cleansing process quite soothing and stress relieving. It does not dry out my skin. It leaves my skin quite clean and soft. I like it, but it’s not my favourite cleansing balm because I find two problems with this:
1. The product is super thick and it does not emulsify evenly on the skin, especially in winters. At some places, it stays thicker and on some, it gets thinner. I am nit-picking but it’s true, but in summers, I am not facing any problem with it because the balm is a little loose at the moment and is spreading way better on the skin.
2. It gets over pretty fast. I am pretty much finished using it within just over a month. I find it quite pricey for the amount of product.
Overall, I definitely prefer my Bobbi brown Cleansing Oil and Cleansing Balm over this one. They lasts me longer and they gets rid of just about every trace of makeup on my face.
Darphin Rose Aromatic Oil:
$70 for 15 ml. love love these Aromatic oils from Darphin. I adored the “Orange Blossom” one and this oil is no different. It comes packed in this little glass bottle with a white cap. The opening of the bottle is small so you can control the amount of product. I personally don’t use oils everyday in such hot summers. I find them a bit too much, but I started using it in Paris, where the weather was quite colder. Here in Delhi, I use it may be twice or thrice a week.
Here’s how you use it – open the bottle and breathe in deeply. Apply 5 drops to face and neck in gentle circular motions from the inner to the outer part of the face.” I love how holistic approach they offer to using their oils. This oil is especially made for those with normal to dry skin. This oil is a gorgeous blend of essentials oils of sunflower, sesame, almond, rosehip, evening prime rose and much more. It’s so much goodness in one little bottle. It really hydrates my skin and keeps it soft. I literally just pat a few drops on my face after cleansing the face and it does take care of all the lack of moisture and hydration. Just a little goes a long way. I barely need 3-4 drops of full face. It soaks into the skin after a bit and does not feel heavy. It smells lovely, not necessarily like fresh roses, which I would have preferred, but it smells like a lovely spa oil and really calms your senses. In the long run, such products keep your skin looking beautiful and soft. This is another favourite from the brand.
Darphin Lumiere Essentielle Serum / Illuminating Oil Serum:
$88 for 30 ml.
You remember I reviewed Rodial Serum that did not work for my skin? I picked up this serum from Darphin next and this serum literally started showed results the day I started using it. It’s a gorgeous golden orange-coloured serum that comes in a transparent pump bottle. This serum includes “moisture-replenishing hyaluronic acid, restorative acetyl glucosamine and an illuminating, micro-encapsulated essential oil blend of tangerine, orange, neroli, ylang ylang, cedarwood and ginger.” This is paraben-free serum and 90% of the ingredients are from natural origin. Microencapsulation is a process that is used in skincare that helps in delivering some of the active ingredients in deeper layer of the skin.
This serum is very lightweight, non greasy and gets absorbed into the skin within seconds. Although it is an oil serum, it feels quite watery and light on the skin. It just makes for a great light layer for the moisturiser to go on top. It leaves the skin moist and supple. And it works! I started seeing the changes in my skin within a week. My skin was clearer, smoother and so much supple and it has only gotten better with regular use of this serum. I think I can always close my eyes and go back to this serum whenever my skin is crying for help. It’s definitely one of the best on my list of serums. Highly recommend it.
