How are you doing today? We are having winter showers here with chilly winds and gloomy sky. Gosh! there was a time when I simply loved this romantic weather, but feeling sorry for the people who step out in this extreme weather. Now, I am one of those people who steps out into the extreme cold weather for the sake of kid’s education 😛 Now, all I want in life is an extra hour of sleep in the mornings with one extra cup of coffee, which I always miss, because I am always in a hurry! Anyway, before I go on about it, here’s the review of a lip potion. Estee Lauder is not a new name on IMBB. After launching the new liquid lip potions in the market, they are gaining attention in the beauty world once again. I have also tried their lip potions and today I am here to share my thoughts on the same. Let’s read more about Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Naughty Naïve Liquid Lip Potion!
$30 for 0.2 Oz, excludes shipping and taxes.
A fluid lip color with the potent effect of a lipstick.
What it does: The innovative Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion is a liquid lipstick hybrid that leaves lips plumped with continuous moisture. Saturated with high-intensity color, without sticky shine, lips appear sculpted and sexy. The creamy, moisture-rich formula glides on in one effortless sweep of bold liquid color—going on wet but revealing rich color that lasts for up to eight hours. The oil elixir-infused formula is enriched with avocado, jojoba, and sunflower oils, leaving a luxuriously comfortable, satin-matte finish.
My Experience with Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Naughty Naïve Liquid Lip Potion:
The lip potion comes in an attractive opaque black tube packaging with a see-through patch on the tube to give you an idea about the shade inside. It comes with a curvy doe-foot applicator which helps with lining, filling in and delivering even finish on the lips. It does have a slight fragrance which does not bother me much. Overall, I like its smart, attractive and travel-friendly packaging.
Talking about the shade “Naughty Naive,” it is described as a pink berry color while it seems like a coral pink shade through the packaging, but comes up like a blend of pink and orange on my lips with a wet shine finish. I mean it seems like a semi-matte liquid lipstick to me which maintains that subtle wet shine on the lips for quite a few hours before drying down to a stain.
I love how this coral pink lip color complements my skin tone with its coral wet shine finish. I am sure it will work for most Indian fair/pale/medium skin tones. Like any coral lip product, it also tends to look neonish red at times, but it looks fine under any natural or artificial light.
The texture of this lip potion is another surprise as it seems like a lip stain in a tube while it comes up way better and creamy than any other matte lip stain. I mean post application, it leaves a wet sheen on the lips which takes time to dry up and it is a bonus since it keeps the lips soft and moist as long as it stays.
It is forgiving on normal dry lips as it does not sit on top of dry patches and does not accentuate flakiness or dryness on my lips. It does not settle into the lip lines though layering might tend to highlight uneven lip surface, hence scrubbing and moisturizing prior to application would be helpful. It is also impressive to see that this lip potion has never highlighted the dry patches. It does not feather out. It gives the plumped up effect to my lips with youthful finish and sheen.
This lip potion is intensely pigmented and delivers a deep coral stain on my lips though it might fail to hide deep pigmentation on the lips. So, beauties with deeply pigmented lips might need a concealer or lip liner before this lip potion.
This shade stays on for 5-6 hours on my lips, but transfers slightly on to cutlery/cups. It fades into an uneven stain within 7-8 hours and you would need touch up or reapplication after that. I need a lipstick remover to get rid of every last trace of this liquid potion while it tends to fade quickly after one heavy meal.
Overall, considering its creamy, semi-matte, juicy finish, and decent staying power, I would definitely recommend this liquid lipstick to everyone. I have tried many lip stains before and this certainly feels different than typical lip stains though the former stains survive longer hours than this lip potion.
Personally, I am determined to get another shade soon.
Let’s sum up pros and cons:
Pros of Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Naughty Naïve Liquid Lip Potion:
- A creamy, juicy, semi-matte coral lip stain cum liquid lipstick with hydrating ingredients such as jojoba, avocado, oil elixirs, etc.
- Does hydrate and smoothen my lips for as long as it stays on my lips.
- Intensely pigmented, delivers nearly full coverage in just two swipes.
- Lightweight, non-sticky formula.
- Does not bleed, does not settle into the lip lines.
- Good staying power, 5 to 6 hours.
- The liquid lipstick leaves a wet shiny finish on the lips.
- Attractive, travel-friendly packaging.
Cons of Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Naughty Naïve Liquid Lip Potion:
- Unlike other lip stains, it does not last for more than 7 hours.
- Tricky on deeply pigmented lips.
- Leaves an uneven patchy stain.
Well, this lip potion is a bit pricey though I cannot deny the fact that they feel comfortable on the lips with their hydrating and wet shine finish. However, the staying power could have been a bit better. Whatsoever, I am excited to try “Strange Bloom” and the other shades now.
I will rate it 4.4/5!
