I am likely to give it to my MIL & other elder women in the family who love purple/lavender the most. My Experience with Maybelline Colorsensational Amethyst Potion Color Elixir Lip Color:

Maybelline Color Elixir range is certainly a hit for a number of reasons and I feel their quality is at par with many high end products. The gloss comes in as usual plastic tube packaging imitating lipstick bullet in first sight.

It has a faint smell and taste which is non-significant by now. I love its leaf shaped doe foot applicator as it is easy to use and makes the application even. I also like how these lip colors come out pretty subtle and wearable, though they seem too dark for our liking in the packaging.

And, this particular shade “Amethyst Potion” is one such pleasant surprise; it seems deepest purple glossy lip balm with silver shimmers at first sight. But, it comes out pretty subtle & wearable pinkish purple on my lips even with the shimmers. I picked it up for elder members of my family initially considering the shade in the tube, but when I tried one of these, I was so impressed to see the outcome. It compliments my pale skin very well without adding on years to my face unlike usual dark purples.:P

The texture of these balmy lip colors is already getting love & fame amongst IMBBians and this is also one such gloss with perfect consistency and non-sticky texture on lips. However, it does seem to give slight uneven coating upon first swipe and we may need multiple coats for buildable coverage as well as even finish. Other than that, it is totally great in every sense right from the shade to its lasting power and that non-sticky glossy sheen.

Considering the fact that it provides medium coverage, I guess it might work well for light pigmented lips as well. I see that it easily forgives minor dryness of my lips. It does not accentuate the flaws or cause any irritation; though, it won’t heal the lips either. But, as long as I wear these lip colors I never feel the need of a lip balm even after removing them. I never noticed any deep pigmentation or darkening of lips after wearing them unlike other lip colors. My lips feel equally hydrated and soft pink with no dryness or staining.

The wear time of gloss is quite decent from 4-6 hours which seems good for a lip gloss. It completely fades after one heavy meal with no nasty stain behind, just soft pink lips. I would say if you are fan of purple lip colors then go for it. It is such a beautiful and above all, quite wearable purple. I would like to get it again since I have very few purple/fuchsia/peach lip colors which work well on my pale skin and I would like to stock them forever.

Conclusion:

Honestly, I shy away from purple shades, but I have always dreamt of wearing them. This seems like an answer to my endless prayers of being finally able to wear purple! I bought few more of these for elder members in my family and I am sure they will love it more than me.
