After reading the review on the nail lacquer “Surreal Sun,” you may well wonder why I went ahead and bought another shade of nail paint from Estee Lauder. Truth be told, this was my first Estee Lauder nail paint. Let’s find out how it performed.

Packaging:
The nail lacquer comes in a unique cuboid glass bottle with gold detailing – it’s like a piece of ice cube with an attached neck! The shape makes it very easy to store. The bottle comes packaged in the usual blue cardboard packaging – typical of Estee Lauder makeup.
My Experience with Estee Lauder Vivid Shine Pure Color Nail Lacquer – Smashed:
Color: The shade “Smashed” is a gorgeous deep violet with violet and blue shimmer. It looks stunning in the bottle. On the hands, the shimmer is not as noticeable, meaning it doesn’t look like particles of glitter. Rather, it gives a more polished sheen which catches the light and reflects it beautifully.
It’s a very elegant and polished shade. However, I do undertsand that it might not be everyone’s cup of tea – most people do not like to venture away from the classic pink/red/n*des.
A single coat does not do justice to the colour, you will need at least two coats. The deepness of the color gets accentuated with the second coat. This is not a fast-drying nail paint per say. However, it’s fairly quick because I have never had a smudging incident with any of the Estee Lauder nail paints and trust me, I am a very impatient person, especially when it comes to something like nail paints!
For the purpose of review, I did not use a base coat or top coat. The amazing thing that I noticed was, that despite the intensity and darkness of the colour, it did not leave any stain on my nails.
And now, the most important aspect of the nail paint review – the longevity. This one gave me a solid 4-day wear, which is very rare for me. On the 5th day, it started chipping and I could see it receding from the nail tip. With a base coat and top coat, the longevity of the nail paint can obviously be increased.
Another thing in its favor – the nail paint does not lose its sheen and shine. I have seen nail paints which look amazing on day 1, but by day 2, the shine and glossiness disappears. The glossiness of “Smashed” continues through the wear.
To sum this up for you:
Pros of Estee Lauder Vivid Shine Pure Color Nail Lacquer – Smashed:
- Beautiful deep violet shade with shimmer.
- A lovely sophisticated and elegant shade.
- Gave a solid 4-day wear.
- Retains glossiness and shine through the wear time.
- Packaging is unique and screams luxury.
- Classy small bottle, so easy to carry.
- There is no weird smell to it.
- It’s not a “quick dry” formula. However, it dries fast enough that I have never had a smudged nail paint incident with it or any Estee Lauder nail lacquer.
Cons of Estee Lauder Vivid Shine Pure Color Nail Lacquer – Smashed:
- No cons with this one!
IMBB Rating:
4.8/5
This is an absolutely smashing shade from Estee Lauder and something very daring for what was early considered a very safe-playing brand. Needless to say, this being my first shade from Estee Lauder, I got totally hooked onto their nail paints. This one is a keeper and I wouldn’t mind buying again.
