How is December treating to you all? Today I am going to talk about a very interesting topic, Breast Reduction Surgery. We ladies are naturally blessed with different sizes and shapes. So here is a guide for women who wish to undergo this procedure either to make their lives easier or to enhance their beauty.
What is Breast Reduction Surgery?
Breast reduction surgery is basically a plastic surgery procedure for reducing the size of large breasts. It is also known as reduction mammoplasty. According to the experts, they remove some tissues and skin from the breasts to reshape them, and to make them appear smaller. It can also make the area of dark skin surrounding the nipple (areola) smaller.
How is It Done?
To remove tissue and skin from the breast, the surgeon first makes one or more cuts in the breast. After the excess tissue and skin have been removed, the skin is closed with stitches. Sometimes the nipple and areola have to be removed and repositioned. If most of the breast is a fatty issue and there is not much skin over your breast, only liposuction can help to reduce the size of the breast.
Breast reduction surgery should not be confused with breast lift! Breast lift is similar to breast reduction except that in some cases only skin is removed. A breast lift can raise sagging or drooping breasts, which is a common problem with large, heavy breasts, and can elevate the nipple and areola.
How to be Prepared?
The experts will surely make sure that your surgery is done in the most easy way, but there are few things that you should take care of as well. Before you undergo surgery, you’ll need to get your home ready for your recovery. Have these things handy:
• Plenty of ice to move over your breasts
• Good cloth or towels
• Ointments and other creams as guided by your surgeon
• Loose and comfortable clothes
Breast reduction surgery always leaves visible scars on the breasts. They are extremely red and tender during initial days, but it depends from women to women. Scars typically fade away after some time. But you need to keep applying the creams and ointments given by the expert during surgery. Sometimes scars remain over your breast, if proper post surgery care isn’t taken.
Some people face trouble while bread feeding after surgery too. You can sometime face unevenly positioned nipples over breasts, and the size of the breasts might look different too. You might feel like you have lost your breasts, that’s because of the sudden weight loss from your chest.
• Excessive bleeding
• Blood clots
Will Your Insurance Company Cover It?
If you are thinking about having a breast reduction surgery, contact your insurance company in advance. Some insurance companies cover some or all of the costs of breast reduction surgery if surgery is being done to relieve back pain, skin problems, or other medical problems caused by large or heavy breasts. They typically will not cover breast reduction surgery being done solely to change the appearance of the breasts because it is not considered a medically necessary procedure when done for this reason.
How Well The Surgery Works?
Women who have undergone breast reduction surgery are highly satisfied with the results. Women all around the world, who experienced the need of breast reduction surgery, now do not regret for their decision and consider this to be very good. Breast reduction surgery helps to eliminate the discomfort and pain caused by larger breast and also it makes them firmer, lighter and even proportional.
