Hey gorgeous gals,
Taking a quick break from makeup, I would like to review some perfumes for you. Honestly, I write about 10 reviews in a day – the only issue is that the reviews are written in my mind and don’t translate to the keyboard. Bummer! Just waiting for someone – maybe Dr Sheldon Cooper or his clan – to come up with something which would translate all that is in my mind, onto paper 😛 Actually, considering what all goes on in my mind….maybe that’s not really a good idea! Maybe I’m safer this way! 😉 I started writing this review and then my laptop konked off – one week without the laptop! You can imagine the panic!! Anyway, now that I am back, let us get started!
Gucci by Gucci Perfume. Float away with dreams of tropical breezes and beaches when you spray on Gucci (New) by Gucci. Introduced in 2007 by the famed Italian fashion house, this fragrance is a delicious blend of fruity notes of guava and pear that combine beautifully with the exotic Haitian tiare flower note that’s the heart of this fragrance. Patchouli and musk finish off the fragrance as grounding base notes that add sensuality and depth to the scent. It’s perfect for casual wear, so splash some on for a day out shopping or for an outdoor concert. 75 ml. Top note of guava and pear. Heart note of tahitian tiare flower. Base notes of patchouli, musk, and honey.
My Experience with Gucci by Gucci Eau de Parfum:
The product comes packaged in a beautifully elegant deep brown cuboid glass bottle with gold detailing. There is a little charm dangle at the neck of the bottle with “Gucci” engraved on it. The bottle comes in a coordinated dark brown outer cardboard box.
Not so long ago, before my makeup phase, I went through a perfume phase! I wanted to collect at least one perfume from every single top brand that existed. I was contemplating picking up Rush, but then Gucci by Gucci was launched, and I was enamored by the fragrance.
As per Gucci – Gucci by Gucci was developed by perfumer Ilias Ermenidis. The perfume was announced as a floral chypre, with a fruity opening of exotic guava, beautiful Haitian Tiare flower in the heart, and patchouli, musk and honey in the base.
When you initially spray it on, it has a strong fruity, almost citrus-y note, which quickly develops into a more flowery tone. However, as it develops, the musky and earthy base note appear, which carry with them hints of vanilla and a tiny bit of cinnamon and sandalwood. I find the perfume keeps developing in complexity as time goes on.
Even though the initial hit may feel flowery, it’s not overtly so. For someone like me, who doesn’t care for fruity or floral scents too much – it doesn’t make me go “Wham!!” – so that’s a good thing, and as it develops, I love those earthy-musky scents, those are right up my sleeve. The beauty of the perfume comes out as it develops and you get to the base notes. So, overall, the base notes are fairly strong but there is a just a hint of the floweriness – especially patchouli which remains. This is what gives the perfume its distinctness. I’d rather have a perfume starting flowery and ending deep musky – earthy; than have a perfume starting complex earthy – only to end up with that sweetness later! (I am looking at you Nina Ricci – Extase)!!
The perfume is perfect for a evening out and especially for fall. The strange part about the perfume is that while I totally enjoy it, I wouldn’t mind it on my partner either. I won’t say it’s unisex but a man can totally get away with wearing it, especially if you want your partner to literally drink your scent in….Know what I mean??
Bottom line: The perfume is sexy, earthy-musky with hints of masculinity but it does not feel strong and overpowering. When you take a whiff, you actually feel like drinking it all in. It’s just gorgeous. (Side note – I really have to stop using this word “gorgeous.” 😛 I recently saw a YouTube video where the person was sharing lip-swatches – the 5-6 shades she shared – she actually used the word “gorgeous” at least 3 times for each shade! I’m sorry if it sounds catty. I don’t mean to be. I just became more conscious of how often we use it!)
This is not a day wear perfume, it is definitely for an evening out or a night out. In terms of performance – this one has a strong silage, lasting about 7-7.5 hours, so you are pretty set for the evening.
Pros of Gucci by Gucci Eau de Parfum:
- Excellent silage.
- The bottle quite suits the scent – it embodies the earthy masculinity of this female perfume.
- The perfumes are a unique blend of fruity-florals to begin with which quickly develop to this amazing earthy-musky notes.
- It’s not strong but a very sensual fragrance.
- Definitely makes you feel special.
Cons of Gucci by Gucci Eau de Parfum:
- The bottle isn’t travel friendly. It seems sturdy but its fairly heavy.
This one is an amazing fragrance, it’s the perfume I reach for when I want my partner to pay attention. 😉 LOL!!
Amongst my huge collection of perfumes, I find this to be fairly unique and needless to say, I am quite enamored with it!
