Today I am going to review the ‘Unicorn’ egg from the I Heart Revolution ‘Surprise Egg’ series. The ‘Mermaid‘, ‘Rose Gold‘ and ‘Gold‘ editions have already been reviewed on IMBB. This egg has eyeshadow and highlighter shades to create a unicorn eye makeup look.

My Experience with Makeup Revolution I Heart Revolution Surprise Unicorn:
The packaging and the design of the product is the classic eggshell. This design of the product makes it very collectable. The eggshell is of a gleaming bright purple colour. The shell seems to be made of hard plastic but nonetheless, it is small and travel-friendly.
The eyeshadow shades in this egg are a mix of purple and blue shades. There is one beautiful dark blue pigment and a deep purple pigment, both of them have a matte finish. The shimmery shades are basically three gradients of the purple colour – light, medium and dark.
These 3 shades work nicely as transition shades. These eyeshadows are not as pigmented as the mermaid egg and you need to go over with your brush with more product to get a nice colour. The light purple shade is a really good colour for the eyelids when applied with a wet brush.
The clumping problem is also seen in this egg, especially with the shimmery shades, which makes it a bit annoying to do a wet brush application on the eyelids. There are two highlighter shades – one has a purple undertone to it and the other one is silver.
These highlighters go really well with the eyeshadow shades and can be used on the brow arches and the inner eye. They also tend to clump up and accentuate skin pores, therefore these ones are not recommended for the face again.
Overall, I love the egg for its cute packaging and shimmery shades. I feel like they could have added a contrasting shade and that would help create more dramatic looks. For this reason, I think the eyeshadow shades in the mermaid egg are much better in terms of creating contrasting looks.
With a primer, the eyeshadows have a great staying power of up to 8 hours. They are easy to remove as well with micellar water/cleansing milk. Their application is not as smooth as compared to the mermaid egg and I feel like it needs a pink shade.

Pros of Makeup Revolution I Heart Revolution Surprise Unicorn:
• Cute packaging
• The 3 shimmery shades of purple are really nice and help create nice transition looks
• The navy blue colour is quite pigmented
• Lasting power is up to 8 hours with a primer
Cons of Makeup Revolution I Heart Revolution Surprise Unicorn:
• Fall-out and clumping of the pigments is an issue
• Pigmentation could have been better
• I feel like this egg needs a shade from a different colour to create intense eye makeup looks
