Belated Easter guys!! These days, the latest launch of surprise makeup eggs from Makeup Revolution created such hype on Instagram that I finally gave in to the rush. My friend Esha has already reviewed the rose Gold egg and I got swayed away with its packaging. Yes, I got so tempted with the look of the cute little makeup filled eggs that I finally decided to grab one from this surprise egg range. I picked it in the shade “Gold”. Read further to know how this product fared for me.

My Experience with Makeup Revolution I Heart Revolution Surprise Gold:
Makeup Revolution I Heart Revolution Surprise Eggs was launched in six different shades:
·Gold

All the surprise eggs look awesome and the shade variety in them is really cool. I am a complete freak when it comes to choosing golden shades, so I went for the golden egg.
Packaging: The packaging of this product is something to vouch for. It comes enclosed in the form of an egg with surprise makeup loaded inside. Imagine waking up on the morning of Easter and being gifted such a surprise egg!!! Awesome no? I bought this product mainly because of its cute packaging. It is something to be kept as a cute makeup memento. The surface of the egg has a very glossy finish. The packaging looks very unique and expensive.
This surprise egg contains 4 eye shadow shades and 2 highlighter shades. Now let’s get into the inside details of this egg. It has two sides, the opening lid side contains the eye shadow pans and the other side contains two highlighter shades. The golden lid fits properly in place. Overall, I am in love with the packaging and have no complains.
Shades and Pigmentation:
Going by the shade theme “Gold”, all the eye shadows belong to the golden and brown family. The egg contains 2 shimmer shades and 3 matte shades. The highlighters are gold toned in nature. The eye shadow shades do not bear any name. Now, let me describe each of the shades individually.
Eye shadow shades: (Clockwise manner)
Shade 1: This is a brown-toned shimmer shade with an intense pigmentation. It goes opaque in a single swipe. It has the best pigmentation in this palette.
Shade 2: A dark brown shade that has a matte finish. Pigmentation is not very good. It is better to use fingers while applying it. You would need multiple swipes. Has little fall outs.
Shade 3: A medium brown matte shade. Poor pigmentation and it needs multiple swipes. Finger application is needed. It is quite powdery and feels chalky.
Shade 4: Another matte shade that is off-white in colour. Pigmentation is okay and you would need a few swipes to get the true colour. This can be used as a base shade. The texture is not very smooth for this eye shadow.
Shade 5: This is my most favourite shade in this egg. A golden shimmer based shade which will serve very good as an eye shadow. The texture is ultra smooth and creamy. Excellent pigmentation and no fall outs.
After swatching all the shades individually, I realised that the shimmery shades in the palette have better pigmentation than the matte ones. The three matte shades in this palette have been carefully designed to create more of a neutral look. You can easily mix and match the matte shades to create a soft brown look. Applying the matte shades using an eye shadow brush is difficult. It is advisable to use your fingers to get the best results. Usage of a primer is mandatory in the matte shades because, they have little fallout. All the matte shades have poor pigmentation. I expected that the pigmentation could be better.
Highlighter shades:
Shade 1: The first one is a bright yellow highlighter that has orangish undertones in it. This is the star shade in the palette.The tone of this yellow is so bright that it will appear blinding to the eyes. This highlighter will give a beautiful sun-kissed glow to the cheeks without creating a yellow cast.
Shade 2: The second shade is a beautiful soft bronze gold highlighter which when applied will glam up your face. It is more of a rose gold kind of highlighter with a subtle sheen. I love this highlighter shade more.
For the highlighter shades, these two can be combined to create a smooth gradient effect on the cheeks.
Texture: All the shimmery shades have soft texture that blends beautifully on the eyes. These shades have a creamy texture and the colour is clearly visible on the eyes. The shimmer shades don’t feel patchy and ensure a smooth finish post application. While applying the shimmery shades, if you use a wet brush, the colour intensity will be more beautiful and they will give a stunning look on the eyes.
For the matte shades, the texture is not very smooth and has little fallout. To prevent that, it is advisable to use an eye primer prior to application. Other than this, there are no issues. The highlighter shades have a smooth texture and glides like a dream. They have no fallout as well. Overall, I am happy with the quality of this surprise egg.
Staying Power: The eye shadows stay on my eyelid for a decent period of time. Without an eye primer, they stay for about 5-6 hours without creasing. If used with an eye primer, you can expect the stay time to be longer and the finish to be better. These shades are easy to remove as well. They come off easily with any makeup remover.
Overall: I love this palette more because of the packaging than its quality. However, the quality is very good as well and the shade choices are good. I am happy that I have such an amazing product in my makeup collection.
