As mentioned in my previous review (Laura Mercier Boudoir Lip Color), I have picked two Laura Mercier Velour Lovers lipsticks. After Boudoir, here’s the review on a shade called “Addiction.”
A long-wearing, highly pigmented, moisturizing lip color with a satin-matte finish. Lovers Lip Colour’s innovative, matte lipstick fuses delicate mattifying powders with moisturizing mango butter. It provides lips with a sensorial application experience that creates a smooth, velvety texture. Just a single swipe lasts all day without drying or leaving lips feeling chapped. It is formulated without sulfates. This product is dermatologist tested and is free of talc and silicone.
My Experience with Laura Mercier Addiction Velour Lovers Lip Colour:
Packaging: This lipstick comes housed in a dark grey plastic tube and has a slight weight to it. It comes in the standard click closing mechanism, which I personally feel is a little cheap when you are paying $28 for this lipstick. The name of the brand is printed on the cap and the shade name is printed on the bottom of the tube.
Imagine a lipstick that stays put for hours, with insane colour payoff, hydrating and comfortable formula, and doesn’t need a lip liner beneath. Yes, it’s not a dream now, you can have everything that I described above in a single lip color – with Laura Mercier’s Velour Lovers lipstick.
The pigmentation feels like this pigment is on steroids – it’s so insanely pigmented! “Addiction” is an iconic red which doesn’t lean towards cooler or warmer tones, it’s right in between. It does not bleed around my lips and offers full opaque coverage in a single swipe with a slight sheen.
It does not need a lip liner underneath. It does not have any scent, which is a plus for people who do not prefer any fragrance in their makeup products.
It fills the fine lines of my lips making them appear smooth and plump. It does not cling on to the dry patches of my lips, which is so needed since they are so chapped right now and need a lot of hydration, which this lipstick definitely provides even after it gets worn off.
This lipstick also survives meals. I thought since it has a stainy matte finish, I wouldn’t get too much wear time, but I get 6 to 7 hours or even more. After it gets worn off, it does leave a stain behind, which I prefer because even if I don’t reapply, my lips won’t look flat or bare.
