My experience with L’Oreal Paris Hypnotic Red Rouge Caresse Shine Lipstick:

I had been longing to get hold of L’Oreal Paris Hypnotic Red Rouge Caresse Shine Lipstick for a while now. I had been looking online and checked out the malls in my city only to come back disappointed. It was out of stock, everywhere! I kept my hopes up that someday this will reach me because I wanted it with all my heart. And, it happened! I got this at a very good discount too. 😀 That’s a sweet reward for my patience.

Packaging: This lipstick comes in a silver and transparent tube. It is very similar to the infallible range. What I love the most about it is the color coding. There is a sticker at the top and the bottom with the shade name and number mentioned. It looks really catchy and convenient to search amongst similar lipsticks from the range. The cap shuts tight with a click and it can be tossed into handbags. The bullet is flat, unlike the typical lipsticks and I find application easier when compared to the rest.

Shade: I was looking for a very subtle red, since hot reds are not for me and this lipstick’s shade is just that. The bullet is deep maroonish-red in color, but on lips it shows up as a pinkish red. It is not too pigmented, but instantly brightens up my face in a single swipe. It does not have any shimmers in it, which is a plus for me.

Pigmentation: This lipstick is very unique. When you swatch it on your hand it appears sheer, but with multiple swipes on lips it gives medium coverage. Neither it is not insanely pigmented nor too sheer. It is bright enough to add glamour. Intensity can be controlled with multiple swipes, even though this is not an opaque lipstick.

Texture: I so love the texture of this one. It is very similar to a lip balm. It is extremely lightweight and does not feel sticky at all. It beats all the lip balms in my vanity. 😀 It glides like butter even on non-exfoliated lips. And, works really well without lip balms underneath also. I love its texture so much that I wear this everyday neglecting all other lipsticks in my stash.

It takes about a while for the color to show up or rather set and it sets into a pretty glossy finish. It looks almost like a lip gloss. The staying power is also great. Just one swipe and it stays for good four hours on me, before eventually fading. It leaves a bright tint behind, which I do not adore when it comes to the lip care part. I have a hard time removing it. But, the tint looks really lovely and natural, like a flush to the lips to make it look more red.

It did not dry out my lips, but did not moisturize them either. I am happy it does not bleed or settle into fine lines, thanks to the texture. I LOVE IT!

• Leaves a tint behind(it is both a pro and a con for me).
• Is not opaque(not a con for me).
