Lush Cup Cake Face Mask Review

Lush Cup Cake Face Mask

lush cupcake face mask
Another LUSH review! I think I am getting addicted to LUSH products 😉 I have combination oily skin with frequent breakouts. So I wanted to try a nice LUSH fresh face mask which will help soothe my skin and reduce breakouts. I had cosmetic warrior on mind, but fortunately it was out of stock and so the SA suggested this cup cake mask! I had doubts about whether this will work on my skin or not. But just one sniff of the product was required for me to grab this. It smells of divine chocolate cake with a hint of peppermint (how tempting?)!

What LUSH says about the mask? Chocolate heaven for oily and teenage skin. Its action removes excess oil and calms breakouts. Rhassoul mud cleans and soothes, linseed, cocoa butter and cocoa powder soften the skin. Balancing peppermint, spearmint and sandalwood oils complete this effective and delicious experience. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave for five to ten minutes, then rinse away with warm water. Keep chilled.

My take on the product: It comes in a usual LUSH black tub. Since these are fresh masks, the shelf life is very less – one month and refrigeration is mandatory. The mask is pretty thick and I felt it would be difficult to spread it on face. So I took a dollop of the mask, added 4 to 5 drops of water, mixed it well and applied on face. It works well for me this way. The smell is to die for! I had to control myself from tasting it! On application, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to dry and during this time, I could feel a mild cooling sensation, unlike the harsh burning sensation we get while using masks like Himalaya neem face pack ( I ve mentioned this just to compare the sensation). The mask tightens my face upon drying (this is due to the mud present in the mask). The mask has some coarse granules which also helps exfoliate while washing. My face feels fresh and clean on washing it off. I even noticed a reduction in my pore size, but it was temporary! I had a bunch of pimples on my left cheek when I used this mask. And to my surprise, the next day morning, all of them were reduced, that too with just one application. I just love the way this mask treats my skin. And the smell only adds up to the pleasure of using this mask.

Pros of LUSH Cup Cake Face Mask

1. Smells of heavenly chocolate cake!
2. I felt my face was relaxed when the mask was on.
3. Reduces zits and also prevents new breakouts.
4. Cleanses and exfoliates the face.
5. No chemicals are added in the mask.

Cons of LUSH Cup Cake Mask

1. NONE!!!

This mask is among the cheapest masks at LUSH.

IMBB rating: 4.9/5 ( 0.1 reduced for the price )

Will I recommend thus? Definitely to all (just to experience the awesome feeling and smell)!!

Will I repurchase again? Till my death!

  1. Hey nice rview!I was jus browsing through Lush reviews on IMBB(planning to buy my first lush product)….and then this review came up! :yahoo: This looks soo yummy….and…well…lush!!  However I am afraid that if I buy this I will end up eating it 😛 😛

  2. Another Lush review :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

i have 2 more recommendations for you for combination skin from Lush which is simply superb –

    Crashcourse in skincare
    Brazened Honey Face mask

I have sensitive skin and the SA suggested these. First i thought she was just trying to make a sale but i bought it anyways and now i keep going back. i will try cup cake also..

    1. wow! thanks a lot aruna :teddy: ! Next ill try crashcourse in skin care and thn brazned honey. Am sure u ll love cup cake!

      1. i am sure there are and I am even more sure you wont be disappointed with what you buy. Except for the mehandi from Lush, the other 3 or 4 products I bought were really good. The mehandi (brown) was also allright except that I didnt give it much chance to impress 🙂 i used it a couple of times and didnt find it majorly impressive for the price tey charged.

  3. The Shelf life a con for me :(( :(( :(( :(( , i cant complete a mask which is less than this amount within a month,
for me atleast it should have 2 months. Reason is i can use it only on weekends, bcos of work schedule

    1. yeahhh..i so agree..i buy a 100 gms dabba for 700 bucks. I am wishing it lasted me atleast a couple of months. The shelf life of the hair masks are also just a month and the hair masks are even more difficult to finish within a month..those cost around 600 bucks too..but no doubt they are all fab products.

    2. You can get 50 gms of the product too.. but i think they wont give 50 gms mask alone, u ll have to purchase something else and then demand 50 gms…. or u can ask for 50 gms of 2 diff masks… they ll def give u

          1.  i too know tat soon ill taste it :headbang: :headbang: even though i control myself.

  4. I had a sample of it and I have used it a couple of times. It smells so yum that i got confused whether to eat it or use it as a face pack. :dumb: But this is definitley not for my dry skin. It made my skin way too dry. I am sure it is awesome for oily skin. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: Damn! look at that jar.

    1. “It smells so yum that i got confused whether to eat it or use it as a face pack.” 😆 :lol2: I guess its a mud pack and so din suit dry skin.. but it works wonders for me

  5. oh ok.. I am from Mumbai..and the store near me doesnt have the cup cake version.. I guess i will buy online.. Man it is soo yummy!!!

    1. oh.. sorry i thought u lived in chennai… but they usually dont ship fresh masks coz of their less shelf life.. but nevertheless chk wth them and if they do ship it, u can get it

  6. YUMMY!!! this particular lush wil not work for my skin type though 🙁 but i so wanna try & smell it….it sounds extremely tempting!

    1. yeah u can probably get 50 gms of it and try it just for the heck of it and to experience the richness of chocolate…. :pompom:
