MAC Fast Play Amplified Creme Lipstick Review

MAC Fast Play Amplified Creme Lipstick

I have this terrible habit of heading to MAC and buying some of their least known shades. Just the other day, I went to MAC and tried two of the most prettiest lipsticks, Brick-o-la and Fast Play. I picked Fast Play over the other only because of my fondness for pinks. Although, I have every intention of heading to MAC and buying Brick-o-la any day now!!

MAC Fast Play Amplified Creme Lipstick

I love and let me reiterate, I LOVE MAC amplified cremes. Out of all their lip formulas, these are my favourite; not drying like the mattes, they are creamy, shiny (not glossy or shimmery), and long lasting. Personally, Amplified Cremes are the ultimate all-in-one lipstick package and so I have a tendency to go straight for these at the MAC counter. Sadly, there are only 12 of Amplified Cremes in the regular MAC collection and as of now, I own 3 of these babies.

Fast Play is a mauvey pink, its more pink and less mauve, though MAC describes the shade as a neutral pink. Its very similar to the very well-known Cosmo, but its a deeper pink-er pink. By the by, Cosmo is described as Pink Cocoa by MAC. Hence, Fast Play works better on my NC 40/ NC 42 skin tone.

The difference in swatches of Cosmo and Fast Play are minimal, but on my face, I find Fast Play to be pinker and it works better on my face and brightens it up. Just like Cosmo, Fast Play is a beautiful daily wear shade, subtle enough for work, but bright enough to make you feel a little flirty. This is definitely my favourite Amplified Creme and my current Lipstick Lover.

Left:  One swipe of Fast Play. Right:  Two swipes of Fast Play.

I get a good 4-5 hours of wear with these, along with eating and drinking. The dark color will fade to a stain eventually. Its superbly moisturising and full of rich color. It contains MAC’s signature Vanilla Scent, which always makes me happy.

My only real concern is that this probably is a very dupe-able shade. I am sure most of us probably own a similar shade in our stash somewhere. For me, personally this lipstick is a winner because it combines such a beautiful simple color with the Amplified Crème formula, but that’s me, and I am also a MAC loyalist.

Buy this if you love sedate pinks and don’t own Cosmo. Don’t buy this if you own Cosmo, the two shades are way too similar to justify the purchase of both.

I have a feeling this will look brighter and pinker on a fairer person, but I don’t think this will look over the top as it isn’t a fuschia type of pink. No matter what, please try this color when you head to your nearest MAC store.
