My Experience with Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor Personal Statement:
Look-wise the packaging is a hybrid between the regular lipsticks by Mac and liquid lip colors. The applicator is handy and user friendly. The ingredients and other details are mentioned on the outer paper carton. The shade name is mentioned on the tube as well as on the carton. The tube is transparent so you can easily find the shade in your stash, if you have more than one from the same range.
The texture of the lip color is creamy and smooth. It glides on the lips like butter and settles to an ultra matte finish. The shades have varied consistency, so each one has a different pigmentation and they show up differently on the lips. This particular shade has a good texture but the pigmentation blah. It is really difficult to evenly cover the lips with the color. A lip liner beneath would come in handy for a smoother application. Due to the super matte texture, exfoliation and moisturisation is recommended as it tends to focus on the dry patches.
Personal Statement is a neon pink with cool bluish undertones. It looks so weird on my yellowish skin tone that I have to think hundred times before putting this on. The shade is pretty but only for very fair skin tones. Even though the shade is nice for fair beauties, I would not really recommend the shade as this one has pigmentation problem, you would have to be super careful while application as it tends to apply blotchy and uneven.
The staying power is again incredible. It does not move of smudge at all as long as it is not messed with. I have to use an oil based makeup remover to completely remove it from the lips. It does not stain the lips, nor does it go patchy. This has survived meals and stayed strong for more than 8 hours on my lips. After 2 hours the lips tend to feel a bit stretchy and hence I apply a bit of matte balm on top to bring the comfortable feel to the lips.
Pros of Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor Personal Statement:
• Nice packaging.
• Little goes a long way.
• Nice applicator.
• Stays as long as it is not removed.
• Lightweight texture.
Cons of Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor Personal Statement:
• Neon bluish pink (not my shade).
• Applies blotchy.
• Can be drying on lips.
IMBB Rating – 2/5
