Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick 109 Violet Fusion Review
I hope everybody’s doing great. The weather these days is just awesome and this time of the year is my fav! Fall brings with it a lot of beautiful things, the weather being one of them of course. And then the fall colors are just what I like best about this season. This is the season when we can bring out all our dark plums and bright sienna colors and burgundies and get away with it 😛 So, the product that I am reviewing today is also very much “fall.” It’s the Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick in the shade “Violet Fusion.” Read on to find more about it.
Maybelline Color Show Lipstick is a fashionable intense lipstick, which comes in chic to vivid shades. Maybelline Color Show Lipstick is highly pigmented giving bold lips.
- It stays for up to four to five hours.
- The creamy texture is not heavy on the lips.
- It does not smear or smudge.
- It does not settle in line.
- As it is highly moisturised, you don’t need to wear a lip balm.
How To Use:
For a perfect lip shape, start in the middle of the lips, smoothing out to the corners of the mouth.
My Take on Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick 109 Violet Fusion:
Packaging: The lipstick comes at a price of INR 299, so the packaging cannot be as luxe as high-end lipsticks of course, but I was at least hoping for it to be similar to Colorsensational lipsticks, but I was really disappointed by the flimsy packaging. It’s made of very cheap quality, lightweight plastic and the cap is proof that the plastic might crack soon if not handled with extreme care. Anyway, it’s black in color and the middle of the lipstick denotes what family of color it belongs to which is quite smart (brown for shades of brown, purple for shades of purple and so on). The sticker at the bottom denotes the colr name and number. All in all, it is easy to carry but not very sturdy.
Texture: The texture of these lipsticks is what really got me hooked on to these. It’s super soft and creamy without being greasy or sticky. Also, it feels very light on the lips. Application is very smooth, though the lipstick settles into fine lines on lips.
Shade: The shade is called “Violet Fusion,” but actually, it’s more towards brown than violet. Actually, it’s like a fusion of deep violet and chocolate brown color. Anyway, I really liked this color, so I bought it 😛 It gives medium coverage to lips and three swipes are more than enough to get the shade as appears in the bullet. The lipstick is not matte nor is it glossy though it has very minute shimmers which are only visible under sunlight. All in all, I have a feeling that I will be wearing this lipstick a lot this season because it screams winter. Hehehe!
Longevity: The lipstick comes at such an affordable price, so of course I wasn’t expecting it to last for 8 + hours, nor does the brand claim anything like that. The brand website says that it stays on for 3-4 hours and that’s how long it stayed on me when I applied it this morning, but considering it’s not glossy in texture, the staying power could have been better.
Pros of Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick 109 Violet Fusion:
- Very affordable.
- Travel friendly.
- Super smooth and creamy in texture.
- A wide range of colors to choose from, starting from pinks to purples to browns to reds.
- A beautiful brownish violet color that will suit “all” skin tones.
- Easily available now in India (after such a long wait :P)
Cons of Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick 109 Violet Fusion:
- The packaging could have been way, way, way better. There are lipsticks from other drugstore/ high street brands in the similar price range with better and sturdier and prettier packaging.
- Stays on for 3 hours maximum, needs a touch up after that.
- Settles into fine lines on lips.
- It’s so creamy in texture and light in weight that I’m contemplating keeping it the refrigerator.
- The website showed the lipstick back in June and we have had to wait so long to get it. Though this doesn’t really count as a con, but….
Would I Repurchase Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick 109 Violet Fusion?
The Maybelline Color Show lipsticks come in 27 different shades, so yes, I will try as many shades as I can at this affordable a price and I do recommend this lipstick to everyone who is a lipstick hoarder and likes collecting lipstick (just like I do).
Conclusion: It’s a lipstick with a decent texture and a pretty shade, though the packaging is not that great, but I’m sure the packaging can be ignored. It comes in all very pretty shades and has something for everyone. It’s a great drugstore lipstick. A must try!
