I was on the hunt for some potent, affordable face masks. I found these Missha modeling masks on a great deal and decided to try them out. The one in this post is the “Rice Powder” and is meant to soothe dry, irritated skin.

My Experience with Missha Homemade Modeling Mask Rice Powder:
This face mask by Missha comes in three different versions (Oatmeal, Moong Bean, and Rice), and each is meant to treat a different skincare concern. The finely milled rice powder comes in a small packet and the essence or the modelling comes in a cup packaging which is similar to flavored yogurt container.
How To Use: Open the container containing essence and then add the milled oatmeal powder to the essence. Using the spatula, mix in the two products by stirring in one direction. Using the spatula, apply an even layer over entire face within two to three minutes of mixing (avoiding the eyes and mouth). It is recommended to leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and allow it to dry so that it attains a rubbery consistency and is easy to peel off. Starting from the edges, gently peel off the mask. Remove any excess with a damp cotton cloth or pad and then follow it with your skincare routine.
Once the two ingredients are well mixed, the mask appears like a thick, gelatinous mass with an orange tint. This product claims to contain all-natural grains for a healthy treat for skin. It is meant to provide soothing and nourishing effect, straight to your skin from naturally-derived ingredients and most importantly, everything you need to make the mask is included in the packaging. There is no need to control the amount of water or make a mess. This powder contains all-natural rice powder which revitalizes skin and vitamin C which brightens the skin complexion. The essence contains aloe vera extract which is hydrating to skin, it contains Gotu cola extract which is soothing and Fig extract which reduced skin irritation.
Upon application, the gelatinous glob does not appear like that it will dry out, let alone peel off, but after 20-30 minutes of drying time, the mask dries just enough to thicken a little and peels off. I really enjoyed peeling the mask off, I felt like I was my peeling my old skin to reveal new skin.
This mask performed as good Dr Jart rubber masks, if not better and is half the price, so I recommend it over the latter. It left my skin shiny and soft and I did not have to wash it after. This mask also prepped skin for further layering of skincare products or makeup application. I did not expect this mask to show instant results, but it did add shine and suppleness to my skin and I will continue using other versions of this mask and other masks by this brand.

I recommend this product to those who are on the lookout for potent, fast-acting face masks. Also, these Missha modeling masks are half the price of Dr. Jart masks. It is a good change from the regular clay mask. It preps skin well before a special occasion – it is like a facial before a party that adds instant shine to the face. I do recommend this product to others and it’s definitely worth a try. It adds shine to skin and instantly brightens up dull complexion and one cannot get wrong with it.
