Hello all,

Bronze lipsticks take me back to the early 90s.  Most of us seldom use a bronze lipstick these days, I personally think they look very dated. If I’d ever have to pick a bronze lipstick, I would only and only pick it to use it for some eye makeup or as a tan illuminator.  Speaking of bronze on the eyes, I love how bronze eyeshadow works for any eye color. A bronze smoky-eye will look perfect for a summer date-night. I was on a hunt for a well-pigmented bronze eyeshadow when I came across what I’ll be reviewing today – the NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in 705 Bronze.

The idea of a Jumbo Lip Pencil, according to NYX, is combining a lip liner and lipstick in one.  NYX claims it has mineral oil that doesn’t dry the lips and goes on smoothly.

My Take on NYX Jumbo Bronze Lip Pencil:

I bought this lip pencil online during a sale and got it at half of its price which is why I did not think about how unimportant it would be as a lip color in my vanity. My skin tone is dusky and I don’t like the way it looks on my lips, so I have started to use it for the eyes. It is a very well pigmented, creamy bronze shade. On fairer skin tones, it will definitely show up and look better.

The texture is very creamy and glides like a dream during application.  One stroke gives an opaque finish and that makes it score most of the points. Since it is creamy, it tends to crease on the eyelids so that does not make it really ideal to use as an eyeshadow on its own. On the lips, it stays on for 4 hours or more. It has a glossy finish because of which the color easily transfers and also, does not survive meals. Sharpening becomes a problem with these Jumbo pencils since they need a special wide sharpener.

One needs to be very careful while opening the cap since the tip might budge like mine did, the very first time I opened it.

Pros of NYX Jumbo Bronze Lip Pencil:

• Very creamy and smooth in texture.

• A huge variety of shades to choose from.
• Easy to apply.

Cons of NYX Jumbo Bronze Lip Pencil:

• The color does not suit everyone, it’s a matter of choice.
• Transfers easily.
• Requires a special sharpener due to its size.

Verdict:

Overall, I like how opaque, creamy and well pigmented they are. I wouldn’t definitely repurchase this shade, but if bronze is your thing, you can go for it.
