NYX Retractable Lip Liner Plum Review

I recently purchased three lip liners from NYX to use with my lipsticks. As I have pigmented lips and no definite lip line, lip liners are a must for me. Today I will be reviewing ‘Plum’, which is a deep reddish-violet shade.

My Experience with NYX Retractable Lip Liner Plum:

Packaging:
The product comes in a twist up slender plastic pencil. The whole pencil is colored and represents the color of the liner. It is super easy to spot the pencil in your stash. The packaging is sleek, simple and user-friendly.

Shade:
‘Plum’ is a true plum shade. It works perfectly with your plum lipsticks, violet lipsticks and even deep pink lipsticks. It suits all skin tones and gives pigmented lips a perfect definition.

Texture and Application:
The pencil is super soft and creamy. This is a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. Being soft, it applies really well and blends out perfectly. However, it often breaks, which leads to loss of product. I bring out a tiny amount of product and if that breaks, I smudge it out on the lips.

Pigmentation and Coverage:
The pencil is pigmented but the coverage varies depending on your lip condition. If your lip is super soft and smooth, it will cover everything. For heavily pigmented lips, it takes more than one layer. Now, layering often makes the lips cry and then the lip liner starts crumbling. I clicked the pictures on a day when my lips were feeling a little dry. It started becoming crumbly and I could not cover my entire lips properly. Among the three, this one is the best. It did not highlight the dry patches much and made them look softer.

Staying Power:
Since it makes the lips dry and crumbly I do not wear it alone. I tried using it with a gloss on top once and it lasted for 3-4 hours. When I use it just to line the lips along with a lipstick to fill in the lips, it stays for long and also survives meals. I like this liner more compared to the other two from this range. I love wearing violet and plum lipsticks. This will be a great lip liner for such colors.
