My Experience with NYX Girl Crush Matte Lipstick:

The lipstick comes in a black colored round plastic tube with a matte finish. The brand name and range name are printed on the tube in simple white fonts. The tube bears the shade name and ingredients list on its side. There is a sticker at the base of the tube, which bears the shade name and number. The neck of the tube is transparent and one can easily spot the shade through it. The actual lipstick is typical bullet shaped with slanted tip that gives précise application without much effort. The cap of the lipstick shuts satisfactorily with an audible click sound and does not come off while carrying around. Overall, the packaging of the lipstick is decent and travel-friendly.

The shade “Girl Crush” is a vibrant cool toned pink with a neon touch. It almost looks like a hot Barbie pink shade. This shade is flattering on fair skin tones. The color is beautiful and instantly brightens up the complexion. The shade is very bright and gives an instant pop of color to the entire look. This makes it a perfect summer shade.

The lipstick is decently pigmented and it gives semi-opaque coverage in a single swipe. Two-three swipes build up decent amount of color on the lips. The lipstick applies evenly on the lips without giving any streaky finish. There is no significant sheen or shimmers in this lipstick and it sets to a semi-matte kind of finish.

The formula is not ultra-matte like the NYX Full Throttle Lipstick. There is a healthy sheen noticeable on the lips. There is no fragrance in this lipstick, so this is a pro for people with sensitive nose.

The texture of the lipstick is nice. I find this NYX matte lipstick range better than its velvet matte range in terms of texture. It is super creamy and buttery smooth in texture. Hence, it glides on the lips effortlessly. There is no tugging or pulling of the lips. It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips. But still, prepping the lips well is mandatory for a smooth finish, as it has a matte formulation. So, it has the tendency to cling to the dry patches of the lips, if the lips are not prepped well.

The color fades away evenly after meals and never goes patchy. The lipstick is smudge proof and does not budge at all. It has a tendency to transfer a little, but it does not have a heavily transferring formula. The lipstick is comfortable to wear, but I would not say it is too lightweight. I can feel the presence of the lip color on my lips, but it does not bother me as such. It does not have a thick or waxy kind of feel. The lipstick formula is slightly moisturizing, but if your lips are super dry, it may not be able to keep your lips hydrated for long. My lips feel dry after a few hours of application. So, it is necessary to keep the lips well hydrated and moisturized with a lip balm.

The lasting power is average and it stays for around 4-5 hours on my lips with slight fading from the center of the lips. The color fades after a full meal and it requires reapplication. Removing the lipstick is easy; but it leaves a light pink stain on the lips, which is easy to remove and can be taken off using a good makeup remover.
